Not necessarily in order - Recruiter, Pass Oriented Head Coach, Aggressive Defensive Belief, Strong Mid-West Ties, Younger, - Niceties would be QB expeience

What are you looking for?

Wins.

In all seriousness, all of the above are necessary. And we won't know that the next coach will be successful immediately. I don't know if anyone thought Brohm was going to the bees' knees when Purdue hired him. People wanted this guy or that guy. Same with Hazell. No one knew he was going to suck when he stepped on campus.

We as fans and seat-buying alums have to have the patience and the trust that Mike Bobinski can make the correct choice. How do we sustain the growth that this program has had in the last 6 years?

Agree, however Hazell was run oriented. Not a good fit for the home of the Cradle of Quarterbacks.

Hazell was also lazy as hell. Still recall the bye weekend we had one season (3rd year I believe) - and his only recruiting trip was to Central Catholic in Lafayette! I knew then he was done….

I'm looking for someone who wants to be here for the grind and not the $. Someone w/ HC experience and has some success at a place where it's somewhat challenging to recruit to. I'm leaning to Clawson right now

Hire a coach that has exceptional program management skills that can create a culture and a program identity. Coach needs to have a short term and long term vision for the program and a plan for how to execute it. Needs to be a guy respected by his contemporaries that has a network and contacts that will allow him to find the right assistant coaches to run the team. Need a guy that understands and embraces the NIL. Needs to have the right guys that can evaluate talent if you are a program that will have to rely on mostly three star recruits with the occasional four star. AD must provide financial resources to hire the right assistants and coordinators (should not be a problem with Big Ten TV revenue). AD must be all in on the program and the hires. I would not take a flyer on any coach that has not run a major P5 program in the past. JMO.

On paper he seemed like a good hire, coming off of a great season at Kent State. He actually brought in some talent and had decent assistants, but just was in over his head and retired at a pretty young age for a former head coach.

And he bungled a whole bunch of legacy recruitments.

Terrible hire and should be an example of what not to do at purdue. From the very beginning....tressel,, the thought process, etc.
