Heide to Texas

no, that was kip jones

one free throw......first of a front end, but it was indeed Dan Palombizio. 1982 regular season finale.

Bizio transferred after his second year to Ball State - averaged a double/double for the Cardinals.

The Kip Jones FT game was the crazy one against Illinois in 1987. He made what everyone but the officials thought to be a game-winning FT in overtime, but when the Purdue players celebrated - Illinois was awarded a technical foul FT. Altenberger missed it, and Purdue did prevail......classic game under Boilerepherine-inducing circumstances. That was after Doug Lee scored his first FG of the game with a tying 3-pt FG to send the game into overtimes at the buzzer.

Huh... Where did I mention IU in my post? Nowhere.
Please don’t act like you don’t ever bring up IU in comments not talking about IU. Here are a just few where you inserted IU into the thread when comments or the OP weren’t talking about IU:

Indiana had only done it maybe once? Just take the right circumstances.

Indiana and UNC are First Four out? That should let you know what shape CBB is in right now. I'd rather see the Drakes, Bradley's, VCU, Marist of the world get in before those 2.

Hopefully Indiana shows up. Only real bright spot on the year and what I will be happy seeing is Anthony Leal finally getting recognition to end his career. Should be All-B1G Defensive team without any doubt.

Thats the crappy part about not being the #1 overall seed. You get thrown wherever. When Indiana was the 1 seed in 2013, they played Syracuse in DC.

Don't know but he's going to Indiana(I actually have no clue).

I've Indiana could be looking at Heide. Which would be weird. Personally, would go after Colvin but It's whatever.

No idea why but I always hated Altenberger. (nothing to do with Purdue as I was not a fan yet). Was he a jerk?

I didn't think so - he was really good, solid teammate - really good shooter, gritty.....four-year player (played a 5th year due to injury)......would have fit right in with Keady's teams. One of those guys you'd love on your team but hate to play against because he's such a tough competitor and a different kind of glue guy. He bricked that FT though, thankfully.

As an aside, that '87 game was one of Bardo's four o-fers in Mackey Arena. :)

Palombizio became one of the nation’s top five scorers – 26.3 as a junior, then 20.2 as a senior, shooting 48 percent. Couldn’t do that here, averaging 4.6 while having to sit and watch an Eifert.

Heide seems like he is in his prime for the Austin nightlife, so even if basketball doesn't work out, I'm sure he'll have a lot of fun.

Kind of surprised by this one. I think he could have potentially gotten a lot of minutes at the 3 or the 4 if we need to go small. Maybe he sees writing on wall that Gicarri and Cox are primed to take big jumps and we will go 3 guards with the 2 big lineup of TKR/Cluff/Jacobson at all times.

He was playing best basketball of career at end of year. Oh well, good luck to Cam...

I was at that game, not sure I have ever seen a crowd get that mad after the T. People in the area I was were throwing stuff towards the floor but I don’t think anything made it there.

I think I just hated all those feather-haired 3 point shooters back then.. Altenberger, Alford, Kerr, etc..

I think there is also a threat of the two new guys demanding play time as well. Reports are Benter and West are legit competition to the 2-3 players minutes. That only leaves the available minutes at the 4 which will mostly be taken by TKR (30 min per game est.). Leaving 10 min. for Heide and Burgess to fight over.

Minutes estimates in my mind are:

PG - Braeden 35 min; Cox 5 min.
2 - Fletcher 30 min.; Harris 10 min.
3 - Cox 20 min.; Harris 10 min.; 10 min. up for grabs
4 - TKR 30 min.; 10 min up for grabs
5 - Cluff - 20 min.; DJ - 20 min.

The 4/5 might flip some if DJ can play the 4 decently, but the minutes won't likely be off with 70/80 minutes between those 3.

The Benter, West, and any further portal additions are fighting for 10 min. unless they can take one of the other players likely minutes. Burgess has an easy path to 10 minutes with Heide's leaving, but that assumes no wing/PF addition from the portal.

There just aren't enough minutes to go around, and being the 8-9th rotation player I'm sure the NIL package reflected being that far down the list. Heide made the right choice, he got beat out for minutes this year and had more competition to fight with next year if he had stayed.

likely immaterial but seems like Loyer was at the 3 a bit this year and Cox played a lot of 2. I see a lot of interchangeable guys at the 2/3. West, Loyer, Harris and Benter have the size for the 3, Cox not as much.

A lot of competition, hopefully making all better. Time for them all to get stronger this Summer.

I suspect that we’ll see Cluff and DJ on the court at the same time when TKR is on the bench.

helped that he playing MAC players back when there was more of a difference. He seemed to enjoy being a bigger fish in a smaller pond. Eifert was a beast. Usually guarded the opponents best front line players. Any from 3-5. one of the strongest guys through Purdue in my lifetime.

Greg Eifert was definitely a true Boilermaker and underappreciated, IMO. One of the nicest, down-to-earth, good guys I've met associated with Purdue athletics. Had several rounds of golf with him on the old Purdue South/North course (well before the Pete Dye renovation) following our golf class.

The golf was free (cannot beat that as a college student) if we played right after class - Joe Campbell, the instructor, was great too - former NCAA Champion '55 (and Big Ten champion '56-'57).

The summer before his senior year (i think) he worked construction and was at the water filtration plant in Fort Wayne which was undergoing a renovation and where I worked then. We'd see him carrying lumber and other stuff and just was obvious he was beastly strong. Showed it on the court that last year.

Yes, the Eifert's are good people. His brother Mark has a shrine in his basement of Purdue/ND and has a pretty cool 'Harry's Chocolate Shop' sign that was made.

Yes PGIT. I took that golf course fall semester of '75. It was great. It was a private lesson from Joe Campbell each class. There were 9 football players in the class, and they always showed up because your grade was based mostly on attendance. But they mostly just hit balls and then left. Joe always encouraged the free golf and I took advantage of it. He would say to play as many holes as I could fit in my schedule and then jump off the course at South #6 because it was near Owen Hall, where I lived that year.

Who is "we"? Not aware of any regular posters on here that are even allowed on the IU board. If you are on the IU board you haven't posted as often or the content that BS Pod posts on here or else you would have been banned years ago.
They are soft as 🧻 over there

Are they not allowed to? Message boards don't really exist in an open area anymore with ESPN and CBSSports gone. It's all team specific. And what's fun about only talking to fans of your own team?
You were whining about someone here posting about IU. Are they not allowed? Mine was simply a logical follow-up question to you.

I turned down a huge job offer for a major company in Houston as QM. Included season tix to the Astros and Texans in the perk package but I just didn't like the area.

The area is unbearably hot and humid, and has the largest mosquitoes I have ever seen.

What you talkin 'bout.......best skiing this side of the Pecos....... :)

I post infrequently and yes was banned two years ago.
