I've said this before but I'm ok with Hazell staying one more year, but I can not bring myself to part with my hard earned money and time to support the program if they retain Shoop.

I like the way Hazell runs the program, not from a wins and losses standpoint, but from all the other aspects.

With 3 other coaching vacancies in the B1G, possibly as many as 5, and with our lack of facilities, it would be a horrible year to try and get a coach. A last place team with last place facilities would end up with another last place coach. We can all bitch, moan, and point fingers as to why we are where we are, but that's not going to solve the problem moving forward.

Keep Hazell one more year, Fire Shoop, and see where the chips fall next year.

Shoop's terrible, but he's obviously running the offense that TurtleVest wants to run. If Morgan mandates a change, hazell will go find another guy to run the same type of offense, only the new guy will suck even worse than shoop since no good candidate would dream of taking that gig.

Or you could catch lightning in a bottle like we did with Drew Brees. Catch a young guy who sees we have a talented RS Sophmore QB, a Stud RS Freshman QB, a Stud RB in Jones, and he could bring an entirely new offensive creativity to the B1G.

Don't be such a pessimist. ;-)

This is a different offense than DH ran at Kent State, though, right? At least I thought it was far more running based.

I have to agree 100% with you on that!!Head coach has his stamp on his program according to his philosophies of what he wants done, whether it's Off or Def.Once again I am not seeing any reason(have read many posts on this) as to why Hudson gets a pass? His Def have been dumpster fires from day one! 500K a year...................give me a break! Our Def were better under a 200k a year coach when Hope was here!

When you say you like how "Hazell runs the program", what exactly do you like? He's bad at recruiting. Nearly as many arrests this year than wins the entire time at Purdue (And those are his players getting arrested, not leftovers from a previous staff). You can blame Shoop, but this team is bad because of the staff Hazell put together. It's not as if Shoop/Hudson were unknown, first time coordinators.

Actually, isn't this Hudsons first stab at DC? He was a linebackers coach at Florida State before Purdue.

DC at Minnesota for 3 years ('01-04) and East Carolina ('04-'09) after that. Moved to FSU after ECU to be FSU's LB Coach.

Lack of facilities, bad location, bad weather, ugly girls….. We make excuses for everything. you must be millennials. Stop it. Purdue is not worse than any other school. It is ALL, repeat ALL ON THE COACHING STAFF. It is their show and their Pop Warner team. The hype that the 6 million buyout is to heavy a price is BS. Purdue just put 60 million our to an addition. Daniels, BOT, Burke and Hazell are the culprits.
When Purdue donations and alumni refuse to give, it will change.

I greatly and respectfully disagree. Why are you getting a coach? If you want one on name recognition and you're going to try to steal either the guy that EVERYONE thinks is the hot commodity or someone who is successful at a big program...guess what?

Purdue wouldn't get that guy even WITH good facilities. The glamour factor is not there at all.

Guess what else?

In 1997, THAT GUY.. was Bob Davie. He was the hot new guy.

We got the same guy we should be after now... Joe Tiller, who wasn't the best thought of, and who we got as a sort of Lou Brown, screw it all, lemme get in there and try my own unorthodox thing.

Babers is in that mold. Nobody at a power program is going to look at Babers as this sort of marketing power on the podium. He looks like an ass eaten out coach from the trenches.... just like Tiller.

And while his offense is no longer this completely unorthodox thing, we've become more orthodox since Tiller left.

I fully agree with your stance on firing Shoop, but the guy we're all going to be sitting there lamenting is right there....

"How do you look at what Babers did at EIU and Bowling Green and NOT hire him before Maryland gets the chance??" Burn that sentence into your head, wherever this guy ends up. And if he ends up at Texas or somewhere where we would have had no chance to compete for his services, I'll be the first one to admit I was wrong.

I totally agree. But since we now know Hazell is getting a 4th year per Yahoo..the next best thing would be to replace Shoop with Bowling Green's offensive coordinator.
It seems one of the biggest flaws with Shoop is over-complicating the offense, especially for the young QB's. Hazell has even said that in his press conferences. The beauty of the BG or Baylor offense is that it's extremely simple, yet super effective. Thats why Baylor continues to churn out huge offensive numbers year after year even when replacing QB's.

Anyway, I'm fine with Hazell sticking around for another year. He's one of those coaches that if he were to have any success at Purdue, I think recruits would want to play for him as he is very likable.
The rest of the season will determine Shoops job status. If we reel off 3 more wins, he might save his job. If not, I think Purdue would have to make a change at coordinator. I hope it's the Bowling Green offensive coordinator. Purdue needs to be different.

I really believe he is too bull-headed to change OCs. It is WAY overdue, should have been done last year, at this point just ride out his awful scheme. Next year expect Sindlear to replace Blough after week 3. Finish maybe 2-10. That NC schedule is tough. No one will be willing to work here. Best case is the TE coach from New Orleans (name escapes me) fills in and we hire a QB coach.

This is literally one of the dumbest posts I've read.

You like the way Hazell runs the program...from all aspects except wins and losses? Ok.

And you can't stand to spend a dime or minute of your time on Purdue Football if Shoop returns? Do you realize that the guy you say runs a good program is the one that's hired and kept Shoop?

Hazel hasn't fired one assistant in his time at Purdue. Everything is going great!

LOL, just hiring the coordinator is meaningless. You have completely re-tool and change your identity as a program. You don't have a QB, WRs, or linemen capable of running those schemes.

They all need to go. But if you bring in new coordinators is it going to take another 3 years to learn a Schoop-like offense???

Whoever is fine with Hazell staying, must think The Great Pumpkin is coming to their pumpkin patch next Halloween. It's not going to get any better with him as head coach. Need new coach, new team mindset, new team attitude!
