I have talked to him several times at JPC events. He comes across as a great guy. Very personable. I did try to put him on the spot about why we cannot seem to land 4-5 star recruits and he deflected me with a what makes you think we want them line. His theory seemed to be that he wants guys who fit his system (whatever that is) and that he is not going after the highly recruited prospects just because they have the accolades. So far it doesn't seem to be working. He DOES NOT COME ACROSS AS A DIMWIT like a Leon Burtnett for example and he is not a cold fish like Colleto.
I think be is a nice man, very organized. Presents himself well. I don't think he is "football dumb" just a guy with no system, offensively or defensively. He absolutely has no system and no one can deny that. Look at the quotes on hires... 3 years in and no identity just an offense that "scores points." The system can be extended to recruiting. He is not a bad recruiter per se, but can't evaluate talent.
Wow, latched on the most negative comment of someone who supposedly met him at Kent as opposed to the few more positive comments of those with more viable interaction with the man. You are definitely precious.
I'm sure he oozes charisma and is a nice guy, just not head coach material, we need A HEAD COACH at Purdue, not a mouth-piece puppet(which is likely why Burke hired him.) Just wanted to know, and from what multiple people have said. A nice guy,but chokes on his own image from time to time.

I wasn't slamming DH. He is a nice enough guy, just a bad football coach. Likewise I had a mechanic, nice guy but never fixed my car correctly, I had to go elsewhere. Same thing with any service. When it isn't what meets my needs anymore, I move on.

Obviously, taking record & product on the field would lead us all to say our coaching is bad. My peeve is why start a thread acting like I wanna know a little more about the coach, scroll down to the first he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room post, and then proceed from there to open the shit talking flood gates for the regulars. I mean truth be told, the poster who made the smartest guy in the room comment definitely strikes me as the guy who fancies himself the smartest poster on the message board!

No no, not at all. This message board stuff is truly a minuscule diversion. Just polished off a scrumptious prime rib dinner with family that my wife prepared. And the beer, oh the beer. It was stout tasting night. Neopolitan Milk Stout, Devils conclave, Black Flame, the Muddy, Death by Coconut, & bad Elmer's milkstout. I am truly tipsy and blessed. Wish you all a happy holiday!
