Hallelujah! Trump administration ends buying soda pop with food stamps.

After 60 years, this lunacy finally is coming to an end.

I don't know if this "can still" happen, but I know cashiers that told me that in the past they would buy a stick of gum and get the change and then could buy whatever. Still, it is an attempt towards a better direction

And leave going out in their luxury car. I’m sure many of us have seen that.

Years ago in an upscale suburb of metro Detroit, I saw a guy buy beer with an EBT debit card. Obviously in cahoots with the cashier, the dude put a six-pack on the counter, the clerk deftly scanned a barcode taped to the counter instead of the barcode on the beer, dude paid with his EBT card and off he went.

Ooooh, the big and bad welfare queen, right? But y’all say nothin’ about zillionaires flying on Lear Jets and taking lavish vacations on the tax payer’s dime.

Stopping SNAP soda purchases brings down food and retail prices, how? Or offset the tariffs price increaseS, how?

You mentioned welfare queens, not me. But here are two facts about food stamps that have been true for decades:

1. The #1 item purchased with food stamps is soda pop.
2. The #1 nutritional problem among food stamp recipients is obesity.

Poor people relying on food stamps don't need soda.

AND that leads to more medical bills that the taxpayer pays

Wealthy people don't need Lear Jets and lavish vacations on the taxpayer's dime.
even if they don't fly...every wealthy politician whose wealth is well beyond the means of their salary with that wealth growing while in office, got wealthy on the taxpayer's dime which is MUCH more concerning than debating someone flights on taxpayer's dimes.

BNI, this has nothing to do with Lear jets. Are you seriously defending the use of food stamps to buy soda pop? There is a great deal of medical evidence that diets high in sugar-containing soda pop has caused a virtual epidemic of Type II Diabetes in both adults and children. And if they aren't squandering their food stamps on Mountain Dew, they might buy more FF&V and yogurt.

Some will do as they've done for years with booze. Sell the stamps and hit the hooch while the kids eat junk.

Brother B, keeping junk out of the mouths of children does nothing but help their health and puts a dent in diabetes and obesity. Maybe you don't want healthy kids?

This has nothing to do with SNAP recipients having luxury cars and buying beer like folks, including you, in this thread are eluding to. I don’t see any push back on them from you.

I'm waiting for BNI to turn this into a racial issue. I know it's coming.
I already did. You haven't been reading my post on this topic. But the Sky man and twin beat me to it bringing up that these folks have luxury cars and buying beer.

After 60 years some of you still don't get it.
You don't have any reason to stick your nose in other peoples shopping.
Oh, right, conservative. Can't help yourself from feeling superior.
it's just a feeling, get over it.

As someone that holds some Libertarian views...particularly financial areas inside the government, I generally want the government out of my and other's lives. However, this is quite different that just interfering with another's shopping...since it is taxpayer's money that is being circumvented by those not contributing financially.

Here we have people taking money from taxpayers intended for nutritional foods for their daily substance. Instead they take the money from others and circumvent why the money was allocated by the taxpayer. Then, they not only lose some nutrient substances that the money was intended, but increase the likely hood of health issues where the taxpayer again will pay for their poor choices. That is the issue.

Then why should e pay for a wealthy person to have a Lear Jet? Or, why should we pay subsidies to white US farmers?

Oh but I do get it, and I don't think you do at all. This is far from a liberal (you) or conservative (me) issue. This isn't about me or even you at all. It's about kids becoming diabetic because their parents continue to push junk down their throats causing that. And it's why they can't concentrate in school because of proper nutrition causing others to be unable to learn because of that. And yet, there's help wanted signs everywhere because some folks would rather live on EBT. Not all, but some.

Evidently you and others of the liberal persuasion think it's okay to use money that we pay into to, to allow the needy to buy junk food. But thankfully RFK Jr., is going to change that and put better choices for them to buy.

And you know what else, as someone who has witnessed it, these same families work the system generation after generation, still drinking their big slurries, smoking their cigarettes at $9 a pack, and drinking their beer every day.

Not all, but many.

And for feeling superior, no way do I do that because I'm not. But I have worked since the first time on a tractor at the age of 10.

Good God man, as your hero Joe says, no one is buying anyone Lear jets on food stamps. Folks who have jets earn the money by working.

This may be one of your dumbest posts ever.
Dude, yours and my tax dollars compensate for the tax write offs for rich folks owning Lear Jets and other write offs that they have. It also increases the deficit.

Dude, I really don't give a red rat's ass who has a lear jet if they've built companies and worked to earn it.. Soros, who's the number one financier of your Democrat party has one a little nicer than a Lear, along with others and pilots and staff on call 24/7. Why aren't you complaining about him?

I don’t care who they are. I don’t like voodoo economics where rich folks can right off Lear Jets and whatever else.

The "Jet" will soon go the way of Russian collusion, Stormy Daniels and the South Africans.
It's the flavor of the week for liberal and democrat outrage.
Soon, it will end up on the big pile of nothing burgers that the libs and Dems have been trying to attach to Trump since 2015. Nothing has stuck, but they'll keep trying because they're so desperate for a gotcha and I-told-you-so moment against Trump that they'll keep throwing everything they can find at him.
By June 1, they'll be some other manufactured crisis they'll be kicking and screaming about and the jet will be long forgotten.

Oh, I don't think the jet will be forgotten by June 1. The rabid left media is intent on belaboring these nothingburgers for months or years. Remember when Dan Quayle misspelled "potato"? The press never let up after that one. Months and months of editorial cartoons, op-eds, late night comedy shows, it never ended until Quayle left office. And when he blurted "happy campers" it was ridiculed and rehashed so venomously and mercilessly that the phrase actually became past of the haters’ lexicon.
