Wow, Painter's inability to recruit athletic guards is glaring in this game. Neither of our starting PGs would start for 80% of the B10. I realize Dakota was recruited as a shooter but he's terribly inconsistent at that.

You go that right..............2-16 from the cheap seats.......glad we don't practice on this court every day...........

I've been saying this for months. Guards win games in college basketball, and ours are not good. Maybe Edwards eventually, but not this year

Oh give me a break. Some of you just are ridiculous.
what do you mean give me a break? It is true. We have any ability to shoot from 3 and guard the perimeter and we are winning by 20. Best guard is a 5th year transfer coming off surgery. Swanigan shoots 3 for better percentage than any guard on the team. Do we have even 10 points from our guards?

They are packing it in and we can't hit the three. And can't defend the dribble drive. Guards are not playing well tonight.

You hit the nail on the head...Painter's answer will be to recruit another 7 footer.

All that size and they were doing layup drills against us. CMP is horrible. I love Purdue, but we are doomed to mediocrity under him.

This team will finish this season in the neighborhood of 40% from 3. This was a trap game that they were fortunate to survive.

Well, Dakota was 50% from 3 tonight, 3-6. I'll take that.

Carsen has some athleticism, and looked good on his 2 drives to the bucket. But 0 for 6 otherwise. The other more athletic guards left the program.

I think the announcers mentioned Dakota had hit 25 of his last 55 3's? I might not be remembering that right but it was a decent percentage over a fair sample size.

Listen when we don't shoot well we will be vulnerable. You can say that about most every team though and every team will have at least a handful of games they struggle. Hopefully tonight was more than the exception than the rule. Will make next week more interesting.

Wow, some of you are just beyond ridiculous.
We did look bad again at times defending the dribble drive. But, we knew without AJ and RayDay the defense would give more up more of those. But overall, the defense was decent tonight.

The problem was we expected the offense to score more and tonight we didn't. What disappointed me was that when 3 players would collapse on Biggie or IH, they either didn't kick it out to the open man or the open man missed. We should score in at least the 80s against teams like GS.

Not arguing that Dakota, and Cline are not overly athletic but maybe look at Carsen, Wheeler, and Eastern before making the grand sweeping statement. And yes he will recruit more centers. You see this is college. They all eventually move on and need to be replaced.

I'll repeat what I said earlier today. Dakota is the most underrated player on the team.

Yes, we shot poorly. But that doesn't mean we're bad shooters. PJ, Dakota, and Spike will come around. Hopefully, Vince will get more consistent too.

Cline is our best three-point shooter, but he made a terrible decision and isn't playing right now. If you take the best three-point threat off of most teams, it's going to have an effect. It's affecting us now, but I'm hoping Cline will come back the way Basil did--energetic and hungry to prove how much he cares about his team.

I agree guard play was the real problem for today. Not being able to hit from 3 and penetrate the defense from our guards will put us in more situations like this one. Though there is no need complaining about a problem painter is trying to fix. Nojel was just recruited to fix this problem and Carsen will take some time.

Dakota may be inconsistent but I am always confident he will make an important bucket down the stretch. PJ is smart and a solid shooter but he just can't break a press. Spike is a good role player. Carsen is just a freshman give him some time. It may take him until next year to be a stud but it could also be next game we just don't know yet.. I really don't think Purdue has a PG problem at the moment. Spike is shaking off some rust, we know what PJ will give us, and Carsen is just a freshman.

No, no, no. Our guard play was just perfect. The real issue is that we need to play zone defense. That would do it!

Actually, we sleep-walked through most of the game. Georgia State, aided by a strategy of hack-the-big-guys, got to take advantage of our lack of energy. We woke up and the refs decided they could, indeed, call all the fouls. Once woken, we rolled past these guys.

Just kidding. GSU played an excellent game. They were well coached and played tough for the 3rd game of the season. I can't take anything away from GSU.

All three point shooters are somewhat inconsistent. None of them hit 40% every game. Dakota is very reliable.

Purdue will finish fourth to fifth in the Big Ten maybe get to the second Round of the NCAA tournament. This is what you get when you're recruiting is average or below . Next year will be no different bringing in one kid in the top 100 the other recruits are projects .

That's what the post was intending to say. The games Dakota goes 2/7 from 3 I'm still confident in him when he pulls up for a big bucket. He is our most reliable shooter
