Grocery store shelves empty here in VA

I'm shocked haha. I see similar things in Indy and Noblesville but not that bad.
Covid, supply chains, bad weather, stupid people, no leadership. Roll it up and you get empty shelves.
Could it be chalked up to bad weather.. I used to work at a grocery store and If weather got really bad we’d be empty just off of that. Not that I don’t think the people in power are inept and worried about the wrong things beyond anything i could have believed two years ago.

Yep ... same here. Also seeing longer waits for pick up service at some of local groceries as well. Our local Kroger made a hard shift to ramp up staffing for pickup/delivery about a year ago so it's not as bad around here, but it's harder to get same day pickup now.
It's not just one thing although snow has played a role.

It seems pretty hit or miss. I went to the Target near me on Saturday and lots of empty shelves. I went to the Meijer near me a short while ago today and they were in good shape.
Yeah, you can't really blame weather as I've been noticing it for over a month now. I've got kids that are picky eaters, my daughter was thrilled I finally found one package of the biscuits she likes for biscuits and gravy. Seriously, any other kind and she starts gagging, I try to keep her from knowing they are different kinds and she knows instantly.

It depends on what you are looking for and it really varies from week to week what isn't available. Grocery shopping is a real crap shoot anymore.
Many grocery stores here in CT have been showing dwindling stock on the shelves over the last two months. Things seem as bad as they were at the beginning of the Covid outbreak in 2020 around here. Prices are going up for just about everything, too. It’s not the weather causing this.

I did. It was actually fairly well stocked as well. But the frozen section at Target was barren on Saturday. It’s definitely a crap shoot. I asked one of the folks at Target about it and he just laughed (mind you, the Target near me has never been stellar with stock, even before the pandemic (downtown folks and Butler kids come over) but Saturday was the worst I’ve ever seen it)

We were in Punta Gorda, FL around Christmas visiting family. The Publix there were well-stocked too. It was impressive coming from CT where many basics are scarce.

Possibly going through life with the name Merrick scarred him with social misgivings?

I was an active duty US Army officer for 28 years, REMF not combat arms, but I know what those MOS's do. There is a reason that those military jobs are hard to fill and why they qualify for a $50K bonus.
Missile defense crews fire surface-to-air missiles at enemy drones and aircraft. They are absolutely the first combatants that the enemy wants to take out and those missile launchers are big, juicy targets.
Likewise, special forces are the first ground troops to go into a combat area.
Signals intelligence is the communication among units during combat. That's another juicy target for the enemy to take out.
Fire control specialists are the front line recon guys that tell the artillery, air support etc where to attack.

my post and if not correct...correct me was that while the political powers are getting rid of people in the army, there is also an offer of 50K to get people in the army. It was not about particular recruits, but rather one hand was removing people for political reasons while the other hand was paying 50K to get people. That doesn't seem like a good picture.
It’s not a circular argument if people are working today without vaccines. As you liberals point out, that’s the problem. But mandating a vaccine doesn’t mean people will actually do what they are being told…and an example of that is that they remain unvaccinated today (even though they have been told to do so…by definition)

Not sure what you mean but if you read that link that you posted, the $50K bonus was for only a few specific Army jobs that are best suited for young people with immortality complex.
Are those that are getting fired or on the cusp potentially from those "specific Army jobs"? Again, the crux of what I wrote was about the appearance of firing people from what I understand is no area immune to offering 50K to hire people. If those potentially in those specific areas cannot get fired, then I'm 100% behind you and the picture is not odd at all. However, if people can or could get fired for political reasons, then my thoughts stand and the picture is not a good look. I just assumed that people could get fired in any particular area due to being castigated as a white supremist or refusing the shots.
