Good sign?

The same Florida team we ended up beating by 15 on a neutral court is only down 4 to MSU at MSU with a minute to go. This might be a pretty good sign.

I realize we are playing weaker teams right now, but I though we looked good today. We made some outside shots which always helped, but we also passed and finished around the rim nicely. Our talent level is really up and when you pair this with good coaching from Painter, good things can happen.

Watched the whole game:
-State's guards were rattled by the Florida pressure. Specifically Valentine. Yea he ended up with decent numbers but the defense made him work and Florida's guards were winning the 1V1 match up with him.
-If that Egg-guy would have given Florida his normal numbers, Florida wins.
-If Florida actually makes some free throws, Florida wins
- Florida missed 6 shots from 5 ft and in in the first half
- Refs made all the 50-50 calls to State in the first half
- Refs let em play in second so no complaints
- Calhoun (who I really loved listening too) was doing his best to hold back from calling b/s on the ref calls in the first half.
Conclusion: We only play them once in Mackey but I think it would be a 50-50 game in East Lancing. Definitely think we are better than them. Just have to bring the heat and live inside of Valentine's shirt when they come to the loudest area in the country.

The press has made him the darling for the year already. He goes 5/17 for 17 points and he gets the post game interview.

I'm with you on the flops. Twice in the 2nd half he flopped down as soon as the shot left his hand looking for a call to bail him out. Don't like his on court demeanor at all.

Florida is a very young and talented team. When we played them, I didn't think they played well together as a team - they were rather disjointed. I think they've gotten a bit better and will continue to get better. Having 3 guys out on the court who are really talented, but don't really play that well together - cancels out a lot of the talent.

We played a pretty bad team today - and we've been playing bad teams the last few. I like to watch the guys play, but I'm very much to the point of wanting to see us compete against better competition. And we will be doing just that. I just don't want to see everyone get their panties in a wad if/when we lose.

+1 on the keeping our panties comment. We aren't going undefeated, keep the losses in perspective and stay positive about this team. They are a joy to cheer for!

I'm chomping at the bit to play MSU, but 9-Feb is a long ways from now. I'd be shocked if they're #1 at that time.

Dominating Butler will have to do. It seems like forever since we've beaten them.
