You were able to hang tough with Seton Hall for most of the game. At least you tried.
I felt this way when I lived in another state for a while. But I moved back to Indiana and was quickly reminded why I prefer to see them lose.At this point I kind of feel bad for them, and see no reason to rub it in.
It's come to this on the IU board...."We aren’t very good yet, but we are playing harder."You were able to hang tough with Seton Hall for most of the game. At least you tried.
LOL! That's the sort of comment that inspired Abugabby's "PLAY HARD! PLAY HARD!" cartoon. It's come to this on the IU board...."We aren’t very good yet, but we are playing harder."
The Bob Knight curse is still alive and the Voo Doo Lady has been paid another year.
Poor babies.

And here's another..."We'll have to find building blocks on the road vs top 25 teams. Teachable moments. Transition year so we'll have to be patient."LOL! That's the sort of comment that inspired Abugabby's "PLAY HARD! PLAY HARD!" cartoon.

One of my guilty pleasures is listening to their jackass radio guy when they are losing really bad. He is such a crybaby. Complains about every call and just generally whines. Last night after the game they were talking about how improved the team looked from the ISU game. It was very strange to hear -from a program who feels they are on the cusp of winning a title every year - after getting ass banged by 20 by a fringe top 25 team.
Is Don Fischer still their play by play guy? I actually used to like him, but I haven't heard an IU game on the radio in at least 15 years.
Why can I only like this post once???Trust me, living 563.2 miles from Mackey does no good at all....I still want them humiliated and dragged through the streets whenever anyone mentions their name.
Yes, and he is a "spin doctor." Not close to the class of John deCamp.
Yes. I love that he is voted "broadcaster of the year" almost every year.....by the print media....that is 95% grads of the Iu journalism school. Everytime I hear about his awards it makes me think of that time Michael Scott bought himself the "World's best boss" coffee mug in The Office. Is Don Fischer still their play by play guy? IPFW, Valpo?IU has a big weakness in the middle. They will be hard pressed to beat any team with a big center or a power front line.
Minny, MSU, OSU, Iowa, ....and maybe a team in northern Indiana are going to give the Hoosiers a lot of trouble.
Oh... I agree with you!JM, you are a good poster but you are wrong on this one. I guarantee that there will be a good deal of anti-Archie grumbling as thus year wears on. The bloom is coming off the Miller Rose very fast.
Oh... I agree with you!
My post was to explain the current crimson colored glasses view cited by this thread.
However, as more losses accumulate there will be plenty of yahoos in row 30 screaming “PUT IN GOL DARN PRILLER!”
That grumbling won’t change the reality that the future is significantly more promising than it might viscerally appear.

First as I've stated before I rooted for Dayton when they made their one long run in the NCAA's. He's a good, but not great coach....and though he's bringing in recruits the same caliber as Mr. Crean did, that doesn't mean IU is a title contender now or three years down the road.Oh... I agree with you!

Right on target Big Red. It is going to take a year or more for Archie to get his team playing like he wants them to. The real question is going to be... (1) Is Archie a good enough to coach in the BIG? (2) Can he bring in the right players? Those questions are yet to be answered.Oh the grumbling has already started on some of the boards. JM is right though; the underclassmen are showing some heart whereas the players that spent 3 years with Crean could walk out the door tomorrow and I wouldn’t be the least bit upset. Durham has been a nice surprise and Smith gets after it. Green showed promise last year and hasn’t seemed to regress. He made one play last night that, while being really entertaining, also spoke to who he was as a player IMO. His shoe came off during an offensive possession and a teammate missed the shot, so he picked his shoe up, ran back on defense, and stole the ball with his right hand while his shoe was in his left. Point being, I think Miller has them on the right track and I’m looking forward to seeing him coach a team that he built..
AJ Hammons did that first, but it was a one-handed rebound with his shoe in the other hand....so he picked his shoe up, ran back on defense, and stole the ball with his right hand while his shoe was in his left.

I do feel bad for those players who are competitors and good kids. But because they have those traits, they don't want anyone feeling sorry for them. They want to win. Before I post on-topic, let me start by saying that I've seen a fair amount of Purdue's in-game action so far, and they look fantastic. Congrats, and enjoy what is obviously going to be, at a minimum, a very good year.
While it's easy (and not especially relevant) to pick out the words of some random IU board fan, the major takeaway is true:
This season is the best the IU fan base has felt about the direction of the program in quite a while. And that feeling is for some very good reasons: The re-emphasis on defense and basketball fundamentals, the fact (if you've watched IU this year) that four of our five most-engaged, competitive, and frankly best players are freshmen or sophomores, the quality of the next incoming class, and most importantly, the complete culture change that Archie Miller is instilling.
So, don't feel bad for IU; the future is already on track even if the present doesn't show obvious results to the casual observer.
