Costs extra, though, for the "hard" look.
LOLI'm rigfht there with you. If I retire and stay in the area I may write him and see if I can attend any practices and be a fly on the wall. I want to ask him about playing zone.

I did exactly that in the 2004-2005 season with Coach Keady. Called the office and his secretary said she would ask if it was ok with him. I got a call back in about 15 minutes and was told to be in the basketball office 20 minutes before practice started. I was there 30 and received a program, practice plan, pad of paper, and pencil. He came up and got me from the office, walked me down to a seat where he said would be perfect to watch practice, and spoke to me one on one for about 25 minutes while his assistants ran practice at the start. Still have my notes and program...literally one of my best memories!I'm right there with you. I'm struggling in where I want to be in a couple of years. Part of me wants to go south and either be on the ocean or be on a lake where I can fish some and possiblty hunt to keep me active. Another part is to just move to West Lafayette and spend my remaining years around the campus. I have a few years on Kim and so she will need to find a job preventing me from getting too rural.
Thats the thing...when you scout and set a plan...people in the stands may have no idea what you are trying to do unless it is obvious like maybe a box and one and even then it may take a while...especially if you are trying to take out a player or so. Then the coach gets on a player and the fans never saw anything wrong...his player never scored. If you could sit in the office before and then watch the players try to perform that strategy, it means more because you know what he wants certain players to do on D especially and O sometimes. Seeing the pieces move in unison towards a certain goal adds to the enjoyment...but we are left to only notice the obviousI would pay to sit with Painter or other high level coach while they breakdown game film.
