Go Iowa

Umm.... I think maybe Davis will be guarding Uthoff when we play them. How is ISU ranked ahead of us. They are not good. Even if they somehow win, the do not play defense or offense. Looks like street ball to me.

An Iowa win would be good for the B1G and Purdue in the rankings. Iowa state really hasn't played anyone good this year.

Thanks. He looks longer I guess. He weighs 210. I think Davis could interrupt him and push him around. Biggie might be the portion to match up with him given size, but Biggie might be too slow.
Ray guarded Kornet at 7'1" and held him to zero attempts.

Dang......Hawkeyes are doing their best to play "Santa" tonight. Two straight TO's after taking a working lead, then terrible offensive possessions.

Iowa is Charmin on the frontline. We should be able to handle them.

I was hoping Iowa would win and state would drop out of top 10.
First time I've seen Iowa st play. Not impressed at all. How are they ranked #5? Playing streetball and having little depth will not be good for them in the long run.would love to see Purdue play isu

Do the Boilers jump Iowa State after their poor showing at home?

No.

Villanova lost to Oklahoma; that's the only way I see Purdue moving up a spot right now, assuming the Boilers take care of business Saturday afternoon.

Also, I wouldn't characterize it so much as a poor showing. Iowa is probably better than a lot thought.....in the end, it was a heckuva come back. Admittedly, ISU is unproven, but that will eventually shake out when all is said and done.......these early rankings are just for &^%$'s and giggles, really.

JMO.

Sorry to say but Iowa had the game and let it get away. IMHO they are currently the 4th best team in the Big10 and they blew it tonight.

Having said that if they are the 4th best team in the Big10 and took it too the wire in what appears to be the 2nd best team in the Big12 on their home court, what does that say about the Big10 this year.

Iowa sux

Just another reason why I'm glad Steve Prohm took a job outside the B1G. Guy is gonna be a pain in OMHR's butt when it comes to recruiting and owning the state going forward.

He may have 5-6 inches on Davis. Isn't he like 6'10/11? Too lazy to look it up.

I didn't catch any of that game, but doesn't Uthoff primarily play on the perimeter? If so, Davis should have no problem. Height is overrated...lateral quickness is not.

Uthoff is a really good player, and he very well could put up 20+...but hopefully it's an inefficient 20+

Didn't Hummel do that against tOSU a few years back.

Frankly, there are some loose parallels concerning the game there. RH had eight threes in the first half, scored 29, and ended up with 35 for the game. IIRC, Ohio State zoned Purdue a lot in the first half, and RH's shooting forced them out of it, and Lighty did a good job on RH in the second half. I wouldn't say it was RH choking......maybe the team...if you want to go there. Purdue didn't quite have the lead OMHR did, but no question, they let that game slip away......losing a double-digit lead.....mainly because the Boilers couldn't contain Evan Turner in the second half and made some terrible decisions with the ball on several possessions to boot.

The Hawkeyes wasted some possessions, but it wasn't just one player beating them in the second half.....they couldn't stop the penetration, put ISU in the bonus early, and gave up some second chance and fast break points.......a meltdown of different sorts (but on the road). Uthoff wasn't as aggressive I suppose, but I missed a good portion of the first half of that game. I wouldn't put it on Uthoff either.

In the end, both winning teams took the game from the other team by doing what you have to do to close out a game......and get a little help from your opponent.

Maybe my use of the word choke was too strong for some. I will put it a different way: If you have a 20 point lead at halftime and a player that has scored 30 points and you end up losing the game. IMHO you gave the game away. I watched the whole game and Iowa (in particular Uthoff) played passive in the 2nd half compared to the 1st. ISU does not have any lock down defenders, there was no excuse for Uthoff to go into a shell. The combination of him disappearing and the rest of the team not stepping up gave the win to ISU.

If this same thing happened or does happen to PU I would be saying the same thing.

I would agree, it was a choke. When I was watching that game, it reminded me of the tOSU game. I remember Rob going off in the first half and being shut down in the second, much like Udhoff was last night. As PGiT said, we didn't have a 20 pt. lead though, but I do think we were up double digits.

Purdue is much better than both of these teams. Iowa St. looks like trouble when they get hot but the Boilers would eat them alive down low and they only play 7 guys.

Iowa is weaker at just about every position. I assume good D will slow down Uthoff at least some and nobody else stands out at all. Woodbury is painful to watch, I imagine Haas knocking him down like 5 times even though all were Woodbury's fault
