What is happening to this defense in late half/game situations? What are we trying to accomplish? This is something our coaches have to answer for. It cost us two games and nearly 3 more. Realizing every game is close and decided by a handful of plays, but we should not be good enough to be 6-0, yet vulnerable enough in those scenarios to potentially be 1-5.
If you’re going to play that soft on the back end, you have to bring at least 4 if not 5 to pressure the QB. All it took was one, maybe two, plays to keep them inbounds on that last drive and we couldn’t manage that.
Thrilled with the dub and no road W is an easy one, but realistic to know we escaped when it shouldn’t have come to that.
