After Thursday's night game vs. Vermont, I've revised who I would like to see as the first, second, third, and so on options to have the ball in their hands in the closing minutes (or minute) of a tight game:

1. Spike Albrecht (95%)
2. Vince Edwards (85%)
3. Carsen Edwards (71%)
4. Caleb "Biggie" Swanigan (79%)
5. Isaac Haas (71%) (some games he misses a few, but in others he's made them in key moments)

6. Dakota Mathias (84%)
7. Ryan Cline (82%)
8. P.J. Thompson (69%) (he missed again with under a minute left vs. Vermont: I'd prefer he be a decoy in those in-bound situations instead of the guy who gets the ball to get fouled)

Mathias and Cline both have good percentages but from what I've seen, they seem to miss late-game FT's when the game is close more often than not.

What would be your order?

Based on the most recent data, assuming the last minute or two of a game and nursing a small lead, I would say....
1. Spike
2. Carsen
3. Biggie
4. Vince
5. Dakota

6. Isaac
7. Ryan
8. PJ

A similar post came up earlier. PJ has made some great late plays recently, just not at the free throw line. Therefore, if its a situation where the foul is inevitable and you're not even likely to get into your offense before you get fouled, I would go with the 5, I have suggested. PJ is great, but he is in a free throw shooting slump especially at the end of recent games and I think you've got to acknowledge that and go with the best 5 for that situation. Carsen's overall percentage is below the team average but he has been clutch at the line recently. Dakota seems to shoot better from 3 at the end of a game than he sometimes does at the free throw line, but I would still include him in my first 5.

All of our guys shoot free throws well, so anyone is fine with me. I am not about to over react just because PJ has missed a couple. He has been very solid all year and that is a much larger data group than the 3 attempts your focusing on.

I would agree with you if it was the regular season or maybe even the BTT, but this is for all the marbles, win or go home. I really like PJ and he has been solid in every other way, but if it was up to me with the game hanging in the balance, I cannot ignore the recent slump and would have to go with the 5 I suggested.

A lot of our guys have had a few slip ups lately - PJ, Vince, Carsen, Swanigan, Isaac. Not sure why Mathias is so low on the original posts' list. He's missed 2 free throws in the last month. Granted, he doesn't take a lot - but he's usually pretty good.

Well, I don't disagree with that. But PJ has hit two huge half court 3's this year at the end of halves and hit a deep one Thursday late in the game. I am not sure I bench him because he has missed a couple of free throws.

True. To me it would depend on the game situation. If it is just late in the game with a small lead and we don't expect to get fouled necessarily, then I would definitely keep PJ in. But if it is a situation where we are going to get fouled immediately and probably not even get a chance to get a shot off, then I would go with my original thinking.

I would be confident with PJ still, but more confident with Spike on the line. If Purdue is tied or behind, I still go with PJ.
