Free Kendall

Well he has been in for a few minutes now. Normally he would have jacked up a few 3's already. Glad he hasn't because he has not been open.

KS did not look particularly good out there today. I was watching him closely during his time in the game. His D looked bad. You would have thought that was the exact moment he was waiting for. Take an opportunity and prove what you can do. I like Kendal, but DM and RC do more when they are out there. Better passers. Better ball handlers. As good of shooters. and play better D. That is what I see. If KS is not hitting he kind of stagnates the offense.

Yep. Sad to say it as I like him very much but I think he needs to transfer as he is just not working out at Purdue. Next year will not get any easier for him to find playing time. Wish the kid the best of luck and hopefully he does well somewhere.

He did hit a three! Mathias is a better all-around player than him right now, but I think he and Cline are at about the same level if KS grows in some fundamental areas.

There are no guarantees in life but from what I have seen I would expect DM to be much better than KS next year and I think RC will be better than them both by a long shot by the time he is a JR.

Cline might not be better than DM by a long shot. I meant that he will be way ahead of KS by the time he is a JR

I thought today it looked like Kendall showed all of us why he hasn't been playing lately.
That's exactly what I was thinking. It showed why Painter plays who he plays. I hate to say it but Jacquil fit into this group also. He has a ways to go.

It was great to see him get some playing time. But it's clear the rotation this year has passed him by. I am still hopeful he stays for his senior year.

Unless he puts in the time this off season, like Cuonzo Martin did back in the day, then I could care less if he comes back. He looked terrible in mop up duty, and still shows no discipline. His shot selection is terrible, and lately he's even slacking off on the defensive side of the ball. It seems as if he's given up on being and actual contributor to this team, and just does his own thing.. I could be wrong, but that's just what it seems like to me...

Anybody read the interview? He has been thru hell and hasn't played in a long time. Duh

Agree with Bruce. At one point in time, there was talk of KS having NBA potential, sort of a Reggie Miller type. Remember the Penn State game last year? I believe the PSU coach said something to the effect of KS being an NBA player someday.
For right now, I think Painter believes DM and RC are both in a better flow than KS. But, as we all know, we're only 1 injury around from the next man up.
I'd love to see KS be successful, especially since he's a legacy and has been around Purdue his entire life. .

This. Boilers have been playing much better since Kendall stopped playing. He more or less "gives the ball away" by chucking bad threes which are out of the rhythm of the offense and do not have a high probability of going in. He simply does not value each possession, a foundational principle of Painter's offense. Painter always says "winning has to be enough", and it is pretty clear that Kendall does not feel this way. He needs his points to feel good about his game.

I actually felt a little bad for the guys playing with Kendall last night. Some of the seniors deserved a shot or two, and Kendall was pretty greedy.

He clearly is done here and that is ok. I loved the way his father played, and I thought Kendall was a terrific catch for Painter. Painter seemingly gave him lots of chances, even at the expense of the team's success.

This is life. Sometimes thing work, sometimes they do not.

The stupidity on this forum is amazing.

Yes, because Kendall isn't playing we magically turned into a good team? This team has been improving slowly and steadily throughout the entire Big Ten season. We had good games with him playing and we've had bad games without him playing.

He's not greedy and his teammates love him.

Stop spouting garbage.

Kendall has bad shot selection, poor footwork on defense and makes SLOPPY and LAZY passes! I do feel bad for him in regards to his personal struggles - but these are the facts. Hope he can figure some of these things out. :)
