Fort Liberty name being returned to Fort Bragg.

I already started my own thread about this crap.

It's sad that this administration would use the name of a TRUE military hero in WW2 to further white supremacy of the original Fort Bragg name of a military traitor and failed general. Unreal and shameful. And y'all wonder why I call the republican party the party of white supremacy. This is white supremacy at it's worse.

Personally, I'm glad to see them do this. It's the old "you don't like it? Too bad" move that libs are getting upset about. And anything that upsets and offends libs, I'm in favor of.

If you weren’t a racist you would be appalled at the move. Plus you are for traitors of the US military.

Don't you understand how this advances white supremacy and all the fallout as a result of the white supremacy "created" by this name? ;)

Only those looking to be offended and opportunities to cry racism are offended by this. I bet that 99% of seniors in the public school system can't tell you who General Bragg was. And the 1% who can probably don't care.

Only racists would condone honoring and naming US military bases after confederate soldiers.

Now, put racism aside. Why would a country condone honoring and naming US military bases, statues, monuments, schools etc. after soldiers that literally killed US soldiers? That is beyond my comprehension more so than the racism angle.

General Braxton Bragg wasn't even a good general. Considered one of the worse. And y'all want to honor someone like that with naming a military base after?

none of us did this. I assume that you have already written a letter asking why to get some background on the decision or at least asked Al Sharpton to find out why. I would expect an answer as to why of which you have every right to not agree, but tell them this causes white supremacy with compelling evidence.

Well, you don't understand why these Army posts were named after Confederate generals. For decades after the Civil War, there was great resentment in the South toward the US federal government. Over the years the US needed troops for WWI, etc, and in an effort to offer a peace pipe the US allowed local communities in the South to name Army posts within their region. This effort was successful. White supremacy had nothing to do with it.

shhhh he has been on a roll for years. He has been told and shown pictures of the south and north soldiers together as well as told that Lincoln did not want the south persecuted further.

Like I said in my other post. Put white supremacy aside for now. So you are fine with naming/honoring enemy soldiers that literally killed US Soldiers in battle?

Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson have enough clout to get to the bottom of this and need to demand an answer as to why the name was changed. They have avoided paying taxes for years and that shows a LOT of clout. You and the rest of the forum are helpless in getting the answer

I don't need Sharpton or Jackson to demand an answer to why the name was changed. I already know what it is. It's clearly racism. We can argue what Skydog says about the US wanting to appease the south and gave them authority to name the bases. But with Hegseth changing the name back to Fort Bragg using another soldier's name to do it is racist to the core. Out of all of the heroic soldiers in WW2 and other US wars, why this name change had to be from another soldier with the same name?

Secondly, I thought this Chump administration was all about saving money. Stopping wasteful spending. What about all the money it is going to cost to change everything back to Fort Bragg throughout the complex, inside and out.

No, I'm not fine with it but I understand the historical perspective of why it was done. I'm not "fine" with naming states, cities and public buildings after former slave owners - Washington, Jefferson and Ulysses S. Grant, among others - but I understand the historical perspective of why it was done.

sounds like you have a lot of questions. I guess even without you asking those with clout, we will soon see them ask

Dude. You seem to talk in code sometimes. I have a lot of questions? What are you talking about? I have no questions.

Like my grandfather used to say, an old country saying, "Put it where the goats can get it". Basically get to the point.
