What do you think?

My guess would be add Moore and perhaps a linebacker. Esp if that linebacker is a midyear guy, though it may be late in the game to add one of those.

Likely it'll be Moore or Alexander (although right now I'd have to think Moore is the higher priority). Might take a swing at some bigger fish if there is a chance between the early and late signing period. If that strikes out, likely a few grad transfers to add who can either start immediately or provide good depth on the OL, LB's, and DL is what is needed.

It will be very interesting to observe the fate of those who waited until the late signing period. IMHO, there won't be many and they will have fewer options.

Since all D1 scholarships are not necessarily Four Year full rides I bet that most D1 schools have a number of one year renewable's at their disposal come the 2nd signing period if they find a player they must have or that becomes available....plus any HS,College Transfer or JUCO player that signs are arrives midyear does NOT count against next year's limit!

Nailed it. The law of unintended consequences is about to occur. Instead of telling a verbaled recruit "we know longer can take you" prior to signing day, come February coaches will be telling current players on the team "you're out".

Even with 4-year scholarships, there is likely some wiggle-room and methods by which coaches can encourage players to move on. Those end-of-season, one-on-one meetings between player and coach - where the coach evaluates your season and future - are going to be brutal.

I don't like it.

‘If you don’t find a place to transfer, I will put you on the offensive line and make you practice against the DL on the scout team for the next 3 years...’

But coach, I’m a 5’8 WR that weighs 175lbs that Coach Hazell said I would be an NFL player with his coaching...never mind I can only run a 4.7 40 and can’t get open.’

I imagine it happening like that but probably less obvious, lol.

and the father's reply: I don't care how much the coach tries to persuade my son to leave, he ain't leaving until he gets his degree paid for ! I ain't going to allow him to go to that other school in Indiana.

Again, I would almost guarantee a majority of parents don't actually care about the academics portion of it and would rather their child (who most likely was the best athlete in whatever and where ever they were going) is getting playing time rather than where their degree comes from.

well I'm unique, because I would care more about academics and getting a degree than playing football ! if my son received an offer from Michigan or Stanford, I wouldn't have allowed him to leave no matter if he never played a down. but then again, my son is not one of those 4/5 * athletes with a dream of playing in the NFL. .

if you transferred from Purdue to Purdue at Ft Wayne like Scott did (admittedly that's basketball), or from the U of Texas to the U of Texas at San Antonio, would you put U of Texas or Purdue on your resume? or would you include Ft Wayne and San Antonio? if you went to UIPUI, what goes on your resume, and can you still use Purdue's placement services? I ask, because several Purdue players were "encouraged" to leave and ended up at IUPUI and FT Wayne. it's a different school and a different mascot, but what does the degree say?

Coaches can make life a living hell if they choose to. Most would leave, however a select few would stick around.

I can agree and attest to this. but there will always be 1-2 who will stick around.

It's totally disingenuous to not say UTSA or IPFW on your resume, and most employers care about these things. UTSA is not UT-Austin. UT-Austin is UT. IPFW is not Purdue or IU, either.

Employers want to know they are hiring the "real McCoy".

The degree would say Purdue or IU, depends which programs your degree is in.

My resume says “Purdue University - West Lafayette, IN”. If you graduated from IPFW in a Purdue program your resume would/should say “Purdue University- Fort Wayne, IN”. And your diploma would look identical to mine except the part where it said it was awarded. And if you drove 200 miles in any direction from WL, prospective employers would never know the difference.

Prospective employers don't recruit at IPFW like they do at Purdue. That's a fact. Once you're in the workforce for awhile, it likely doesn't matter as much, but it does coming out-of-school.

IPFW alum and my diploma unfortunately says Indiana University. But instead of issued by the Kelly (Kelley?) School of Business, it says the Doermer School of Business.

just curious. can a student at Ft Wayne or Indy or the other satellite schools use the Purdue placement service ? Purdue has one of the best placement services in the country. if I'm a student and want a good job offer, I'd be willing to make the 2 hour drive for an interview.

FYI, my military personnel records listed both of my Purdue degrees as "Purdue University - Main Campus". I didn't enter it that way and had no control over it. I just gave PERSCOM a copy of my grade transcripts and they enter the info IAW a highly regimented format.

the military made me a communications / computer systems officer after reading my Purdue EE degree. I guess they thought my elementary education degree was required to direct the actions of engineers, logicians, electrical technicians and computer programmers as a program manager.

Every day at work I am still amazed how much I have learned from my kindergarten days: Sharing resources, being considerate to others, asking why and why not, and all the while covering your tracks..

Ahh, those were the days..

We saw that from the video clip of Vince's five year old basketball game; passing the ball five times before you score!

Boiler Up!!

Typically, no.
