ANN ARBOR, Mich. — A few final musings from No. 3 Purdue's 82-58 loss at Michigan, because I know how you like musings.
• Purdue looked fatigued tonight, I thought. Physically, mentally, all of it. No excuse, I guess, but that's what I thought.
• I thought Trevion Williams had been doing a pretty solid job defensively lately. Tonight, I think he was not. I think Zach Edey's foul trouble really mattered in that regard, not that Edey is best suited to chase shooters around.
• On the two bigs playing together, Painter's assessment from Day 1 was spot on. Can score. Can't defend. I'll be surprised if you ever see it again, but that's how desperate Painter was, seems like.
• Just a quick reminder that Ethan Morton's catch-and-shoot game has been a godsend for Purdue this season.
• I wouldn't anticipate any problems, but Purdue can't let this snowball now. Handling success, in a broad sense, has not always been the Boilermakers' strength this season. We'll see how they respond to something that's a completely foreign experience to almost all of these guys at this level. Only three of them, I think, were part of that abomination at Illinois a few years back.
• Stay tuned for the review at some point tomorrow. Maybe some new insights come from that, but right now, I'm using a lot of words to describe a game that sort of spoke for itself.
Thanks for reading, everyone, and have a good night.
