Excellent summary of transfer portal for Purdue

Canada - the unmined North of collegiate talent. :)
Well, we already now have two new players from Canada- QB Evans Chuba and the Manitoba offensive lineman. I would think that playing Canadian rules football with that wider field that it would also favor faster players, something I think that has been long lacking from our team.

As soon as you think that you know who the new players are going to be, new ones get added by the hour. I thought it might have been quiet after that article was written, but boy was I mistaken.

My take on the transfer portal pecking order:

1. Top targets are the award winners and big stat generators from "lesser" programs in Power 4 that can't pay the bills, with the subcategories
a. as many matched playing cards as possible (i.e. guys who played together, QB and receiver, 3 O-linemen, etc.) - I think this happens when a new coach brings the team with him
b. Potential draw for other players
2. Next would be 4 and 5 year seniors at the "less skilled" positions (i.e. linemen, but you're getting size and experience)
3. The top "next level" players from D2 (across all positions).
4. 1 or 2 year transfers from "name" schools, broken down into subcategories
a. Had a decent amount of PT
b. Evaluation shows their skillset wasn't being used to the maximum in prior system
5. Passes the eye test or evaluation (let's call these "diamonds in the Rough")
6. Bargain basement buys
