Even Fred Akers

Well, I guess Haze has Akers beat in at least one respect: he did beat WMU (a FBS\1-A team that finished with a winning record) last year.

In 4 years, Akers never beat a 1-A team that finished with a winning record.

How depressing that we even have to make the comparison.

He beat Ohio State there once. Brian Fox was our qb.
I'm pretty sure that the O had a winning season but I am not going to look it up.

Believe it or not, OSU went 4-6-1 that year. Here's a great quick reference sight for historic college football .

The biggest difference was that Fred didn't even attempt to be likable!!!

True he didn't, because he was "Fred Akers" and we were to be damn glad to have him. I always got the vibe that the job at Purdue was beneath him. Then again there were rumors he had daily meetings with his unofficial OC and DC Jim Beam & Jack Daniels
