Great article in the Athletic describing E'Twaun getting his business inspiration from fellow East Chicago NBA player / businessman Junior Bridgeman. You must be a subscriber to read.

Has the Athletic fixed their Twitter setting? Before I dumped Twitter, I could read all the Athletic tweeted articles.

If I recall correctly, Bridgman has addressed the Boilers at Painter's invitation at least once to describe his success in business -- perhaps during E's time in West Lafayette.

Junior Bridgeman would have looked good in a Purdue uniform. Who in the heck was doing the recruiting for Purdue back then? The 1971 East Chicago Washington Senators was the best high school team ever with Junior Bridgman, Tim Stoddard, Pete Trgovich (E'twaun's high school coach), Darnell Adell, and Reuban Bailey, and not one of those players played at Purdue. Same thing with the 1970 East Chicago Roosevelt Rough Riders with Jim Bradley and Randy Artis.

I think that was George King’s last recruiting class. If I recall correctly he was serving as both the athletic director and head basketball coach at the time, so maybe had too much on his plate. He tried to recruit Trgovich and Bridgeman as a package but was unsuccessful. He did recruit John Garrett and Jerry Nichols in that class.

At least Purdue finally got it right with my man, Drake Morris from the 1977 EC Washington team. But again missed out on the studs on the those good early 70’s Hammond High teams with Banks, Hudson, Valevicius, Mercer, and Randall. Or McPipe from Hammond Tech.

I'm a lifetime Bucks fan, going back to the years before Lew Alcinder when we had Wayne Embry as our starting center.

I loved Junior Bridgeman. he's the reason i constantly say that no player should be ashamed of not starting. he was probably the greatest 6th man in NBA history. havlechek was also a 6th man for a huge portion of his career.

But WOW. look what he did with his money and his intelligence. there is a reason he's a successful businessman now.

When you own almost 300 Wendy’s and Chili’s restaurants you are successful.

He is a true model to follow. He had a successful college career. He had a long and successful NBA career. And he invested his money wisely and is now taking a hands on approach to manage his businesses rather than having agents and handlers do it for him.
It’s nice to read about athletes who succeed in life after their first career is over.
