No, I just play the part of a fool , well. Most people thought Tom Smothers was also a fool. I just like mocking people without them realizing it. Just think, to be an agggie at Purdue, you have to have the same high school requirements an engineer does. To be admitted to the school of education to be an elementary ed teacher, you have to have 4 years of math which probably includes trigonometry - something every elementary ed teacher uses every day teaching 3rd graders. And you call me an idiot for questioning Purdue's entrance requirements? My son was accepted into the Univ of Illinois Business school which is one of the best in the nation. Did he need 4 years of math? No. But Purdue does. Why? Because that's the way it's always been. And nobody at Purdue knows how or is willing to change it.

you're definitely not smart on the topics you wish to post on

because I disagree with your opinion? I know how it is. I know the reality. What I don't know is why you continue to accept it! You're just like an old Cubs fan willing to accept mediocrity and not question it. We can't compete with OSU and Michigan. And I ask why can't we?

What I am trying to say, is that if you ever want to win a championship, You need to recruit elite players and then develop them. You can no longer win just purely on developing players. Adding Penn State and Nebraska to the conference were game changers. The competition in the BIG 10 got a lot tougher than what Tiller enjoyed. We have to do a lot better if we expect to compete.

Nat, didn't ignore anything you said. That's why I asked you the question. There is a reason I wanted a certain former LSU coach to be hired at PU and that reason is that it would have immediately stepped up the quality of recruits coming to West Laffy. While Brohm may have done a nice job at a MAC level school and participated in a lesser bowl, I doubt bringing in that type of recruit which is what he's done so far will mean developing said recruits into studs at a Big 10 University. Personally, bringing in a known coach like Miles is/was what PU needed to do. So far, I question what the new AD has done to significantly improve the program.
If you honestly think this, you are clueless. Hiring Les Miles to Purdue would have been a disaster. A 63 year old head coach with an archaic offense who wanted top dollar and didn't have first pick of every recruit he wanted in LA - to even think he could replicate LSU at Purdue is moronic.

He came to interview and provided a 25 point plan (or something like that) on what he thought Purdue needed to be competitive. He was very arrogant and showed he did not understand Purdue as a program or school whatsoever. He turned off everyone he interviewed with. Why is it that after all the openings that came up, he didn't land any new positions?

Brohm's offenses have been in the Top20 in the nation in scoring every single season at WKU. He has a very potent offensive scheme that will play well at Purdue. He brought in a very seasoned staff with him and added a couple of new guys who will do a good job too.

Brohm is going to turn Purdue around and quickly at that. His offense will put butts in the seats and he is a good recruiter. You watch - his classes will only improve over time.

Since you mentioned the Cubs, should they fans not have given a Theo a chance because he didn't get all new starters from the draft in year one?

But once again, Purdue is not in the WKU conference, it's in the B10 and the B10 is a lot tougher. WKU talent will get you WKU results in their conference. WKU talent will not get you any better in the B10.
These past 4 years WKU would have beaten Purdue everyday of the week and twice on sunday. Having coach Brohms WKU roster would be an upgrade. While recruiting a higher level of talent in the future is the goal, taking WKU guys that Brohm is familiar with helped him to upgrade the talent on our roster immediately.

Exactly, he knows what he's getting - these guys who have played for WKU know his system and can step in right away and compete. He knows these guys fit his system well.

I'm not so sure of your bold statement and praise of WKU. They lost 38-35 to IU in 2015. I believe WKU probably could have beaten Purdue, but not as handedly as you claim.

because other people are so set in their opinions against mine. The truth is neither of us knows what the future will hold. although past history would dictate that a school like Western Kentucky would not usually fair well against BIG 10 competition. And if you look at our roster and our recruits, that is basally what Purdue under Brohm has become. Will a high powered offense that was very successful against non power 5 schools be successful against a BIG 10 schedule? many say yes. say, I have doubts. yes, it could probably beat Purdue, but that's not saying a lot.

Are you even a real Purdue fan? A real Purdue alum?

Brohm went 30-10 (.750) at WKU. He has an excellent system that will score a lot of points and will win a lot of games. Purdue will have a football identity again, which the program sorely needs.

let me add something to this discussion, 6 yrs ago Joe Morehead turned an absolute doormat of a team in Fordham into a high powered Offensive team that won a couple of Patriot League titles. He's now the OC at psu and has turned that O into something that teams are having trouble stopping to say the least. So I don't want to hear about oh wku is not Purdue or wku is not in the BIG 10. If you have a coach that truly knows how to implement something and put players in the right positions , lookout. Doesn't matter what league you're from. I really think we got something in this coach and it's going to be an interesting evolution.

I totally agree. We've got someone special in Brohm. And he isn't waiting 2-3 years to win. He's here to win now.

let's just say, I grew up in Wisconsin, and never really understood the Purdue / IU rivalry or all the other Purdue beliefs/traditions. I never had a drink at the Harry's Chocolate place or ran in the Cary Quad Olympics. I went to Purdue for an education, not to be a tremendous fan of their athletic programs. I'm not a jock. . Although, I was a member of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club. I doubt that counts for much in this forum. My wife holds degrees from both Purdue and IU. Most of my friends spent their time at the library or basement of the math building writing computer programs on Saturday afternoons. Why did I choose to come to Purdue over UW and Northwestern? It sure wasn't because of their football team. At that time, all three school's football teams were equally bad. I also hold degrees from several other universities, and also taught at some. So, I guess you can say I'm not the greatest #1 Purdue football fan. But if you look at the student population and alumni base of Purdue and then look at the number of people who post here, I guess you could say I'm in the top 5% of Purdue fans who give a dam about Purdue sports. Unfortunately, I'm in the bottom 5% of the sports fans on this forum.

Why do I even bother to post here? To offer you a perspective of what a normal casual Purdue student and alum think. and to also offer a perspective of what people outside of Purdue think . In reading many of your posts, you seem very biased about Purdue sports. I like to play devil's advocate and show you the other side and make you think. I don't want you to always agree with me. I want to challenge you and also make you realize there are many other Purdue alumni and Purdue fans who have very different thoughts than yours. My life des not revolve around Purdue football or Purdue sports. I did watch the last 8 minutes of the Purdue / IU basketball game, and that double foul was probably the worst call in college basketball this year, maybe last decade.

and the other reason I post here is the Purdue forum I used to post at died for lack of interest. They had 2 posts about Purdue's signing day it's sad, it's made up of a bunch of old alums who no longer care. .

I struggle to believe many people (like in the single digits) are sitting around wondering why Brohm just won't go after the instant impact players instead. For some reason I am reminded of Angela from the Office's disdain for Jazz - JUST PLAY THE RIGHT NOTES! - indicating she just didn't understand Jazz.

I like you wolegib. You've got spunk. I like that you don't just accept things as inevitable. Just sometimes you freak out for no apparent reason. You're always at 11. Turn it down to 7 or 8 and you'll be fine.
