esp. for a Homecoming game.Morgan, you can keep this staff and I will keep my $$$.
I now know why I haven't wasted my time and $$$ coming back the past 2 seasons/Morgan, you can keep this staff and I will keep my $$$.
Only problem with your interim idea is recruiting. You might be ok with that but what recruit is going to come here with an interim coach and not know who they will be playing for.Morgan is watching this too and I have no idea how he can justify keeping the staff on the payroll after this display. A team that put up a big fat ZERO on the board last week vs PSU (not exactly a good team these days) and gave up 39 looks like a B1G contender against us AT OUR HOME.
Money is the issue? Fire these guys and go with an interim coach for 1 year. I would be OK with that plan. See if anyone on the staff (other than Shoop and Hudson) have what it takes to make a successful coach.
Basically any plan is better than the current plan.
That's exactly what you have to do to send a message to the bums at the top running this Football Program!People keep talking about excellence. I think an finance campaign that does not address this football abortion is not getting mu funds. I agree with what Purdue is doing in trying to reduce student costs while providing a great education but if they are not going to try to be at least competitive I am not going to support it. Will be the first time in 20 years we do not have season ticket, and will not be members of the John Purdue club or Presidents council. Who to hell is Burke Ever True to....swimming

We ran Hope out town and he was 5-7 his first year. DH has 6 wins in 3 years! I bet he's the highest paid coach per win? 1 million per!

I don't think if you brought in Nick Saban he could turn this mess around in less than 2 years. That's how bad it is. So by keeping Hazell another year means we're that much further away from turning this around. Disappointing is an understatement.
This is what pisses me off the most. This is not a Jim Harbaugh arrives and we're suddenly great again. It's going to take some time. It's also not uncommon for a coach to have to wait until after their first year to really get the staff they want in place (by the time a head coach is hired and in place, assistants are already into the next year with their job).
Putting in good coaches, good systems, etc. - you could see 3-4-5 wins depending on the schedule (I think with really solid coaches and good systems, we could have 4-5 wins this season). But that's in a great situation.
So you're really looking at at least 2 years for things to really get into place. So if Hazell returns, you're basically looking at throwing away a year.
Also, next year would be a great year to do some house cleaning.
1. There's a good chance we'll be equally bad next year. We lose some of our better players at some key positions. So you're really able to push some younger players, there's low expectations, etc.
2. This year's recruiting class is really small. If you have a coaching turnover, there isn't too much to worry about.
3. The following year will be a full size class. This gives a new coach a solid year to recruit. If you keep Hazell, you will have another crappy recruiting class - this time twice as big.
