Had the start of an interesting conversation with a fellow Boiler today. We were lamenting the disappointing loss and mulling over the deflating loss. We got to the QB play and had some interesting chatter. So then I asked the question....did we not have 3 back to back to back Elie 11 QB's in Etling, Appleby and Blough? Painful that we are not solid there and seemingly have worked through2 of the 3. Was Sindelar one too?
So now the question we started debating. Is the Elite 11 not that prestigious (I am too lazy to look up the others in these classes but know there were some big boys) OR are we not developing them?
Also keep in mind that the teams around them definitely impact how they do. I mentioned that I think we ended up throwing Etling to the wolves a bit early and then the awful line got him killed and he regressed badly. Feel he could have been good. My buddy feels he will be a stud with the LSU talent around him. Coaching does too.
In any event, looks like we have some runners, the line looks pretty stout- do we have a QB that lead us to wins or at least manage the game and not be a weakness? I like Appleby and hope he turns it around. Not gonna bash the kid just want to win. Thoughts?
