Tweeted our about 30 minutes ago he was going to duke. Really thought we were going to get him

I dont get the draw to Duke. They had an inflated good season a few seasons ago and came back down to earth afterwards. Not a good football atmosphere either.

I’ve got a bit of a backstory with Duke:

My nephew played football for three years on high school but took his senior year off to focus on baseball (full academic at Mercer while pitching). Duke offered him a scholarship to play split end and said he was their first recruit at that position nationally...he shrugged it off and played it out to be coach speak. He ended up getting more than 5 full ride D1 offers as a TE/split end including Air Force and I believe Boise St. Hard to complain when a coach sees film of a 6’7 230 pound junior WR who runs a 4.8 40.

Freak athlete but has the tenacity of a daisy flower...love the kid to death though.

I've actually only seen Pancol play basketball, not football, but he was a beast on the basketball court as well, also kinda like Bell (hit game-winning shot to win the State Championship).
I work in Pendleton, and with parents of some of the kids on his team, and I was told 2 things:
1. The Purdue receivers coach that was recruiting him "was really mad at him (Pancol) when he committed to Duke," with the parent also saying that Purdue really recruited him hard.
2. They acknowledged that Duke isn't a great football school yet, but, being a 6'4" basketball player also, he was really looking forward to "getting a free ticket to Cameron and rubbing elbows regularly with future NBA stars" at Duke.
So, weirdly enough, it sounds like the "Cameron Crazies" on the basketball side had a lot to do with his commitment, even though he plays football...

I’m sure Shepherd was mad at him. Picking Duke over Purdue for football is laughable for a guy that grew up in Indiana.
