Is Purdue analyst a decent sized pay bump over MAC position coach?
I understand why WE would go for that hire, but I'm struggling to get why he did so unless it was just about getting closer to home or just a foot in the door towards eventually landing a position coaching job in the P5.
Seems like a tremendous addition in terms of in-state recruiting and he certainly enjoyed some incredible success at his position in his one year in Oxford, but this just seems like a bit of a headscratcher.
Hell, Miami (OH) is his alma mater too.
I understood the addition of Buh given he was fired (seemingly shocking to most of the Illini fans and media) but has ties to so many on this staff from his time with them at Illinois that he would seem capable of handling pretty much any defensive opening that could unexpectedly occur before/during/or after the season, along with being a valuable resource in game-planning for a defense he likely had at least some role in creating. This one though? Just seems fairly odd. Fortuitous for Purdue to be certain, but odd nonetheless.
