At Oregon he will be closer to our line of scrimmage than he was when he played for Walters.
he was one guy who I thought would be a boilermaker no matter what.
Hopefully he improves on his ratio of Missed/made tackles next season…

This kid is an NFL talent. Poor scheme is what you are seeing. This was the one player I wanted back.
I would like Klare back, but that is very doubtful too.
First, good for Thieneman - he gave Purdue more than we deserved during an unbelievably bad era. Looking forward to cheering him on at the next level.
Second, f*ck BoBo and CRW and their complete and total incompetence…legacy players with this skill are special and rare and they wasted his time as a Boiler!

It is a new world of haves and have nots. Purdue doesn't have the money to win consistently with the elite. Hope to be competitive and get a big upset every few years. My interest in college sports as minor league pro franchises is cratering.
Klare would be nice, but TE is pretty solid with Burhenn. Losing Theineman was a big deal

Thieneman was absolutely a huge loss. He was our best player. Klare would be a big loss too as he was our #2 best player. He was the only WR, being a TE, that we had that could catch the ball. Similar to Thieneman, Klare will be playing on Sundays.
Hate to see him go, but with all due respect, I think some of you guys have Theineman on a pedestal. Pretty good frosh year I think we all agree. He sucked last year though. Yes, certainly CRW didn't do him any favors this year, but a good safety doesn't repeatedly miss tackles, get run over and dragged around the yard.
It's a big loss, but we have to move forward and if everyone is not on board....they can move along.
We need to back Odom for now and hope he is successful here. Personally, I believe we are going to see prepared team which Walters never had.

I always wondered why they just couldn't come out and play a game at the start. There can't be any excuse for that usual lack of effort.
Whatever has to happen has to happen. Weird how we had no talent yet we have players being bought by Oregon and Texas (and ND also most likely). The coaching change had to happen and I have faith we can still win at least one game without them next year.
that's 3 players, offense and defense has 22 players, does not make for a talented team

He missed a ton of tackles this year. I didn't think he was very good this year. Our defensive scheme didn't help things either though. Hopefully he gets back to that freshman year talent again.
You have no idea what I give but aside from that I get tired of the "We don't have the $$". We do. Maybe one of these days people will spend some or more but as an alum base, we have it. One of the best public U's in the country for years with 1,000's of very successful people.

Gotta believe that Dillon's decision (and probably others) revolves around not risking 'wasting' their last couple of years of eligibility as much as getting paid. What has Purdue shown to deserve that kind of trust of turning things around quickly from the players?

He did the correct thing, chances are he has two years of football left, might as well go for the money and get a nice head start on life after football. I didn’t watch much this year but games I watched he wasn’t very good, the scheme of him lining up 20-30 yards off the line of scrimmage drove me crazy.
I don’t know him or his family, but they live in an affluent area and his father owns at least two very successful businesses. At the indiana game he was visibility frustrated. There was one play where he chased down a guy from behind and got him while his teammates in position watched. He shook his head in frustration. There was also talk that some of the players that stayed last year were upset some of the transfers were getting more than them. That type of resentment makes it difficult to want to stay anywhere.
Whenever I see something like this, I’m always reminded of a story about when Spurrier took over at South Carolina. When he got there, the program had one donor that gave over $1M they went to for everything. When asked why, Coach was told that the school didn’t solicit donations; They just relied on what came in. That changed immediately and they quickly went from one $1M donor to dozens. I often think Purdue is pre-Spurrier SC, just waiting on donations rather than actively asking…
Or maybe an NFL career. He has the tools to get there. He probably feels there's a good chance playing at Oregon will get him there. The last coaching staff helped him start and look good early, but we didn't see much growth in year 2.

So much for the saying that all these players who entered the portal will return once we announce who our next coach is.
Nice to see Texas, Clemson and Oregon liked our players.
They saw who the next coach was and kept on going. They didn’t like him. He wasn’t that 5 star coach they wanted to play for. He didn’t promise them the rose garden they so desired. Starting and immediate playing time was just not enough. They want to play for a winner. As for the money, there are plenty of other schools who could pay more than Oregon did.
And now our incoming QB has decided to decomit as well.
I don’t believe NIL was as big of a factor as people think it is. I believe our best players left because they wanted a chance to be on a winning team. And they didn’t want to stick it out on a rebuilding team for the next 12 years.
Let’s face it, like rats, they jumped off a sinking ship before they drowned. In today’s college world, nobody who has pro aspirations wants to play on a losing team. They seek that NFL attention and $$$.
The word TEAM has become a 4 letter word in this show me the money society.

A lot to unpack here. 4 of 22 players have left. 3 have come back. Yes some had no intentions of coming back but others like they SAID wanted to see who our coach was. Everyone has transfers. The most elite coach in football right now is probably Kirby and we got 4 of his players last year. The hey weren’t on a sinking ship or think their coach is not good. They left a very good winning program for ours. Oregon has some of the most money in college football to give the fact you say otherwise shows how ignorant you are. It’s nike money.
The top of Phil Knight's bucket list is to buy Oregon a National Championship.
