Forgot to ask if anyone else noticed... First quarter after a bad first series, I noticed Appleby warming up, pretty aggressively- not sure what that was about. Usually guys don't do that during a game unless told to get loose. Do you think had Blough not broken the TD run Appleby may have gotten time? I thought maybe Blough was hurt.

Would be interesting to see if he's learned from his mistakes at all and improved mentally.

If Blough struggles tomorrow, I wouldn't mind seeing him play some.

No, you don't pull a young QB because of poor play UNLESS it is clearly impacting the ability of the team to win. The kid from Nebraska, even though having 5 TO's, you could say that 3 of those were simply Purdue making damn good plays and not much he could do about it (outside of the diving INT by Brown..that was a bad decision but Brown made a hell of a play). Unless you are looking at a game like Appleby had against Marshall or VT where his play is clearly the reason for why the team didn't win or isn't going to win, then you make a change. You can't shake a young kids confidence and make him start looking over his shoulder. Unless Hazell wins out, they aren't making a bowl game so you need to build the foundation for next season...and that starts with David Blough (and to a lesser extent Elijah Sindelar)

Nebraska would have pulled him but I think their other 2 guys are on RS years. If the game is close and you think the next guy can win you the game....bring him in.

It's not like there won't be an open QB derby next year with Sindelar and Blough....making the incumbent have to prove again he's worthy.

I think it was the conditions. When it's cold and wet, it's not uncommon for a backup to warm up several times - especially in college. If the starter gets hurt, you don't want to go in completely frozen.
