Glad he’s on our side

I am hoping we have more targets toward him in future games. I don't feel we used him enough against Oregon State. He is our most dangerous weapon, and he should be getting 10-12 catches a game,.

Less Anthrop, more Bell/Wright.

And where is Marcellus Moore. He's supposed to have Rondale Moore type speed and should really be getting those balls Anthrop is getting.

I guess with Oregon playing their safeties so deep plummer was told to only look to one side. I’d expect Milton to get his this week.. gotta reel it in though. Next year he will possibly be Purdue’s best returning skill player

I agree on that ball thrown by Plummer to Wright in the endzone. That was a damn dime he dropped in there and MW whiffed on it. Can't have that happen.
I think he only got targeted 1 other time?

I think the other one was broc on the left. I expect plummer to look left a lot more. He is much improved

Liked what I saw from Broc.
Cited him a few weeks ago as a guy who probably catches 25-35 balls for us this year. After the OSU game, I’d bump to 35-45. If Wright doesn’t get the stone hands fixed….could be even higher.

Another data point that makes me think the transfer portal is helping us way more than it’s hurting. No reason we can’t snag kids like this from G5 schools fairly regularly.

Whoever found Thompson and finneran did great and I’m hoping to see Jefferson out there too. Did he play? As much as I’d like to see him, if he didn’t play because it was all Grant all the time, that’s great news

I wish we could keep him for 4 years. he could make a run at #1.
He's a Reggie Wayne kinda guy. He just gets open. I'm not sure about his top end speed for the NFL, but I think he has good enough "game speed" to be effective.

He is definitely in the conversation as the Purdue GOAT at WR.

Bell has speed to get down field that we will never use unless we can improve the OL situation...that is why we only passed his way 10 or so times, needed to mix up the underneath routes some.

Prefer not to have Bell running too many underneath routes. That results in taking a lot more hits from 250lb LBs with a head of steam.
Bell is such a good route runner, he should be able to shake most DBs on slants, deep posts, outs, etc.
He really got the OSU DB twisted around a few times.

He was going underneath so much because OSU was playing their safeties deep. Brohm was taking what he was given.

I was saying going into the game that the OSU DL was so weak that speights and roberts would have to stay close to the line of scrimmage .. OSU chose to try to corral Horvath and the deep passes. That’s why Durham and bell were open so easily at the second level.

we will eventually play a team that tries to take that away and the remedy will be to beat them at the third level

Yes, he played. So did OC Brothers. And Tyler Witt. And Jabari Brown.

I saw brothers a couple times.. I was expecting more impact plays BUT maybe the real impact was that Oregon state didn’t get to the outside against us in the run game.

the coaches and players did a great job responding to a challenge. Even if something like injuries makes for a losing season, no one can deny they had a very nice offseason

Brothers played a total of 7 snaps. He looked good on the plays he was in.

I think I underestimated lambert and company. I thought that they’d be good but that you needed to be exceptional exceptional to answer all the questions we had.. but through one game he was.

so the team and coaches did an outstanding job.. and what I mean by that is.. they only beat Oregon state by 9, but i think Oregon state might end up being really good.

if there’s one thing I’d look at as an area to improve it’s that MLB spot. I’d like to see Alexander move there and brothers get in and have it be those two out there with Graham..

But that said, wow did they look good

Don’t forget that our projected starter at MLB, semissi, got injured preseason.

Again the coaches did good but I didn’t want either one.. they should strive to have it be Alexander, brothers and Graham .. semisi and Douglas are both liabilities in space .. still, overall, the defense looked night and day

In the BIG, if your MLB is playing in space you’re doing things very, very, very wrong.

which big ten team?

Minnesota plays like Wisconsin? Tanner Morgan certainly would love any Purdue player not having speed.

I’ve acknowledged that the coaches did an outstanding job this offseason.. is having a different opinion from you on anything permissible?

even on plays where 43 needed to make a power play he didn’t really add anything. I simply think Alexander, brothers and Graham would be the best group. Alexander was impressive.

that doesn’t mean I think the coaches are wrong for playing 43.. maybe someone isn’t ready for a certain role. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see a different alignment come the end of the season that’s all

A little touchy here…

while I disagree….I didn’t get personal. I’m simply stating that a guy like Fakasieki and a 4.6 40 time is fine in a league where the MLBs responsibility is run support 90% of the time…especially in the West vs the power run teams.

I don’t think Douglas belongs at this level but I think the optics are bad if you bring in a transfer like Brothers and give him all the snaps immediately. If he continues to play well, he’ll take Douglas’ spot soon enough.

Ok this is a reasonable take. I get it .. my mind was on ND. I keep feeling like there is gonna be a potentially good surprise there

Defense playing great again although UCONN is really bad. But I think you guys are wrong about the linebacker play. I specifically watched to see what everyone is talking about with playing Brothers and Alexander together. The middle of our defense appears decidedly less physical when the two are in there together. After watching the first half of this game, I highly doubt you will see a Brothers, Alexander pairing going forward. You guys better get used to seeing #43 (Which I'm fine with). I've stated many times that I really like Semisi and Douglas because of their ability and willingness to come downhill. Every defense needs that. It's something that coaches like as well. Despite your objections, Douglas has been on the two-deep basically since he arrived at Purdue, under three different coordinators. Obviously he does something really well that you guys just don't see because I don't think our other backers lack potential.

Douglas was blown up by Oregon state linebackers and out of position often
