Do all 3* players get assessed the same point value? So if we landed a guy with a 5.7 RR and a guy with a 5.5 RR, would the system count them for the same number of points?
No.

6.1 = 150 points
6.0 = 135 points
5.9 = 120 points
5.8 = 105 points
5.7 = 90 points
5.6 = 75 points
5.5 = 60 points
5.4 = 45 points
5.3 = 30 points
5.2 = 15 points

Rivals Rating points + Rivals250 Bonus Points = Total Points
Rivals Rating (RR) Scale (Top 20 rated commitments)
(Rivals Rating = Points)

6.1 = 150 points
6.0 = 135 points
5.9 = 120 points
5.8 = 105 points
5.7 = 90 points
5.6 = 75 points
5.5 = 60 points
5.4 = 45 points
5.3 = 30 points
5.2 = 15 points

For sake of argument and comparison purposes, When talking about recruits and ratings, you should use the same ratings service. Don't try to say he's a 4 star in a different scouting site. or that a Florida 2* should be considered as a 3*.

I know a lot more about track than football. When it comes to running, times decrease as the temperature increases. So a player who runs a 4.5 40 under cooler conditions is capable of running a much faster time in warmer conditions. So when looking at Purdue and the global climate effect, it is better to have a slower receiver who can catch the ball than to have one with inflated speeds caused by warmer temperatures. I believe Purdue, WMU, Michigan and the Patriots and Packers have all proven this to be true. Gronk, Max McGee, Driver, Nelson, Jennings and all those slow Purdue receivers that Brees, Hermann, Orton, Everett threw to come to mind.

I cringe when I see people talking about how fast a recruit from Florida is, because I know they will never duplicate those times outdoors when playing in colder temperatures. Or snow. Or on natural grass turf.

Rivals and most rating agency are often wrong and misleading. Anyone who knows football recruiting knows that a two star from Florida is basically a 3 star anywhere else. As for our class, we have one 4 star, a few high end 3 stars and a bunch of guys that fit our system. Purdue meanwhile is losing commits they just got a week ago, who does that. You guys can barely get kids on campus to take a visit. Brohm's early recruiting returns are less than impressive, and points to our continued dominance of you guys for the next few years.
I think fkfootball changed his name. This is embarrassing.

on a related note, I followed up on some other Boiler decomits and our loss wasn't always their gain. OL Tusha committed to Ohio Univ. OlL/DL Hudson committed to Iowa St. Purdue target Palomares committed to U of Nevada. Purdue target White committed to Cincy. After decommiting, Mitch West received offers from Yale and WMU before committing to Navy . I'm proud of the way the decommiting was handled, and glad they were able to find a new home and scholarship. These guys are using their athletic ability to secure a college education.

Can some one provide me a name of potential players Purdue has a good to great chance of signing..including the double secret commitment nobody wants to speak of?

I think Brohm took a long, hard look at the guys that were already committed and looked at guys he thought he could flip and guys he thought he could swoon to campus. Nothing wrong with what happened...especially given the staff gave them ample time to find an alternative option.

I believe DB Williams will sign. I believe all of our current commits will sign. Mackey worries me a little. As for the outside and what's left ? I believe Mixon would sign if we offered. But according to the article, Beach was our last OL recruit. I believe Juco Wright will sign if we don't sign another WR. I believe DE Nixon will sign, but was placed on hold pending other offers. It will take a miracle for Moore, Harris and Yeast to sign. Jones could sign, I doubt McDougle does. I doubt we flip the TE from IU. My money is that we sign WR Payton and that grad transfer DB. Each day brings a new name and possibility. a concern I have is with Zac Collins. he is one of the better punters in the country. Unless something happened to Schopper, I doubt he was offered a scholarship. And if some other school offers him a full scholarship, I have to believe he would accept it.

I look at a lot of our target's tweets. It speaks volumes when after an official visit, they say nothing about Purdue. or they don't even mention Purdue before their visit. After looking at Beach's tweets, I could tell he would commit. And Harris congratulated him, but didn't say he'd be following him. I saw a lot of discussion on this board about Potts and yeast, but saw nothing from him on his own tweets. I actually thought D White would commit, until I saw our interest in Williams.

With the talent we have on our roster I think we can compete with Penn State and Mayland. Mi$higan and Ohio $t are head and shoulders above anyone else in our conference, so it is what it is. But coming from where we've been I'll take 7 to 8 wins a year. Purdue is struggling to compete in the second class west division and Brohm is not the coach to change that around.
Go Pound Sand for a while, then for a change, Hit the Bricks....your a Hack!

Not bashing rivals, just saying that alot of time they get it wrong. Yes we've had de-commitments but that expected after losing your head coach. But you guys are losing commitments from kids you just got. How does that happen to a new coach, who was supposed to be the best coaching hire of this off-season. Meanwhile up in Minnesota P.J. is kicking you guys butt. Thats the guy Purdue should have hired, oh wait he turn Purdue down.
Careful your starting to drool cause your bball team heading for the NIT so now your posting here about 7 or 8 wins in football. SUCK IT!!!!

On fire is one flip from USC, flip from Charlotte, and beating out Idaho?

Granted one is good...but I doubt USC is losing much sleep over a three star WR...and I'd rather have DJ Edwards another 3 star WR whose a mid year guy anyway....Allen wanted that too...but Brohm got him
For the record, IU stopped recruiting Edwards before Allen got hired and he didn't rejoin the pursue of him. I think any WR will do well in Brohm's system, so can't blame Edwards one bit for picking an offense where they throw it and WRs can post big numbers.

And Tonti was flipped from Charlotte, but several programs came calling late (IU, Arizona, UCONN, etc). So it's not like he's a scrub.

And Fryfogle had a SEC offer from Ole Miss, so again, it's not like the kid is a scrub.

Why did you stop recruiting Edwards? Seems like he would've been one of (if not the best) WR commitments in your class.

The company line of "we liked others better" was used by the coaches. My guess is Kevin Johns liked him, but when the change was made, Heard had Fryfogle on the hook with Ole Miss and we went that direction. Fryfogle and Edwards seem like the same kinds of players with the same kinds of skills. It seems to have come down to where the position coach had a better relationship with one kid over the other. Time will tell if that was a wise choice or not.
