Well he has 5 offers and again at least that many more schools watching with great interest who will offer soon.... so I think it is a stretch to say CMP got there before anyone noticed..... just like it usually is.... that is a myth more that reality.
We will see if CMP can close the deal....
Yes he has offers but none from P5 before us.
While I will concede CMP was early on him.. New Mexico offered last year......but if you want to add him to the CMP finds another first story........it is probably close enough.
I think the guys CMP was the very first big D1 offer on were Kramer and Willis. So there are always a few facts behind every good story......I just think there are really no real secrets in college ball, but someone always has to be the first to find a guy. however, I don't think CMP is uniquely qualified to fit that narrative. He finds a few first, but so do other coaches.
For me the real story is who closes deals, not who finds new possible deals to close.
I love this "close the deal" stuff as if the coach just has to utter some magic words and then the recruit has no choice in the matter.
While no one gets everyone they wish, there can be no doubt some coaches close on a higher % than others on plan A guys..... I would say like baseball that a .300 average would be great when it comes to closing the deal on plan A recruiting.
In any case this is a guy I hope CMP lands as he is very versatile.... Like Eastern will be.
More factors in there than just the coach and every recruit is its own case. It's just lazy thinking and very simple-minded to approach it as you have.
