The way Andre Curbelo plays, he can wear his hair anyway he likes. I have enormous respect for the kid as a basketball player. However, I kept thinking "mushroom man" every time he was on the screen. Maybe the Paint Crew can do something with that?

He could be a new Marvel Comics superhero: The mushroom God... he won't bore you to death, he will spore you to death!

I remember watching the Illinois game last week where the head coach had to sit him back down on the bench for fear he was going to get a technical.
As much as I hate to say it, I think Curbelo is better than Ivey.
Maybe true but he is very easy to hate. I will take Ivey.

I know what you mean, but impact on the game is higher for Ivey. He outscored the mushroom man, got more rebounds, and drew more fouls. Curbelo looked good and had an electric effect on his team, but in all ways, Ivey outplayed him.

Edit: Ivey did not put score the mushroom man.

You saw a pretty good version of Curbelo yesterday. We don’t have the horses on defense to neutralize him. From what I remember, he can be turnover prone and doesn’t shoot particularly well.

Ivey has some athleticism that is really tough to match. He is shooting over 40% from 3. I would think his game would even play out better in the NBA since it’s more up and down the floor.

No need to create a new super hero. This is Curbelo. For those of you old enough to have watched Saturday morning cartoons in the late 70's, Captain Caveman would pull anything he needed out of his hair. Curbelo - Captain Caveman - is a unique talent. He is so tough to defend. The ILL-INI will have to adjust to having him back in the lineup.

Curbelo is the kind of player that beats Purdue teams in the past. Hopefully it is a good sign that we won despite his play in carving up our defense, for the rest of this season

Keep in mind, too, that yesterday was his first game in almost two months. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of his season plays out. I don't know about individual comparisons, but Curbelo/Frazier has to be one of the best back courts in the B1G---maybe the best.

Curbelo is not better than Ivey. He had a great game and we clearly didn't gameplan for him playing. CMP even said so post-game. But he typically doesn't play within himself and tries to do too much. Yesterday was an exception.

I thought the same, but if he continues to play like yesterday - he'll be on the all BIG team.

I think being out for so long was actually helpful, he didn't have the legs to play much, do too much. Playing against what may be the worst defensive Purdue team in 15 years also helps...

Math.....have you looked at Ivey's hair?

Yeah, just need to watch the Marquette game to see the flip side. Yesterday he was great, but will be interesting to see if his 1/1 style messes with the great chemistry that Illini team was rolling with while he was out.
