BREAKING: Attorney General Merrick Garland has instructed the FBI to mobilize against parents who oppose critical race theory in public schools, citing "threats." The letter follows the National School Board Association's request to classify protests as "domestic terrorism."
This is insane!

Who do you think you are to challenge the liberal thought police? This is the new way of the left. Use the FBI to temporarily crush anyone who opposes them.

"Threats"? Are you saying there haven't been any? Have you been paying attention?

It's far more than protests against CRT. Most of the threats, protests, intimidation tactics and public meeting outbursts have come from anti mask and anti vax crowd. I'll post as many as you care to see. Everybody has a grievance. Everybody loves to be angry about something.

Here's a new one.

Let me know when the anti CRT crowd starts burning schools, killing cops and stealing school buses.

Are you serious? Local law enforcement can't handle bilbo baggins and his daughter? You prove daily your grasp on reality is poor.

Cool now do BLM, Antifa or any other leftist. You know, entities that have literally burned down buildings, looted and murdered people. But they are okay since they are leftists right?

Your grasp of reality is non-existent and your hypocrisy knows no bounds.

So Biden says its ok to follow a Senator into a bathroom, film her in said bathroom, and verbally attack her as she sits in the stall; but parents voicing their displeasure at a public school board meeting is borderline terrorism. God, I cannot wait for the red wave coming in the midterms.

And what the media hasn’t reported was a male also followed the Senator into the bathroom. You can hear his voice on the tape. This nation is in a dark place now

If the little girl in the pretty dress holding the American flag is a threat, this country has jumped the shark

You're sidestepping the question.
If YOU, BNI, use legal means of paying less in taxes, why shouldn't a wealthy person?

If you happen to be smart (which most wealthy people are, except for some athletes and entertainers) and you're able to hire tax people who can legally help limit your tax exposure or obligations, give me one single reason why they shouldn't do so?
THEY DON’T TEACH CRT IN PRIMARY, MIDDLE, OR HIGH SCHOOLS!!!!

The chick said that she was exposed to CRT as a child. She is either lying or most likely don’t know what CRT is.

There are four or five different problems happening at once in the discussion at large around CRT. View it like concentric circles - CRT is somewhere in the middle of the circles, and people are constantly jumping around because they don't actually know what they are attempting to talk about, other than the fact that they saw something on MSNBC or Fox News.

You're correct that they don't teach actual, literal Critical Race Theory in elementary or middle schools. The odds of them actually teaching literal CRT in high schools is astronomically small, IMO, but it may actually be happening somewhere. I doubt it, but it may be. It most certainly IS being taught in Universities, especially in education departments in Universities, and budding young teachers that have been exposed to CRT are taking pedagogical practices to the classroom that are heavily rooted in neo-Marxist ideology. So while CRT isn't necessarily being taught in elementary schools, you can be sure as hell that there are lessons and classroom practices that have CRT's fingerprints all over it. Is it "teaching" or "exposing" kids to CRT? Not technically, no. But this comment misses the point, trying to skate by on a technicality. "She's obviously lying! No way she was EXPOSED to CRT as a child!" Maybe not directly, but did this person spend time in a hyper-racialized classroom that was focused on group oppression and victimization? If she was, then she was certainly exposed to a teacher who was using CRT pedagogical tools and lessons. And this isn't JUST happening along the lines of race in the USA, it is also happening along the lines of gender, sex, and a few other personal identifiers. Strangely enough, it isn't happening along class lines. Rather curious, if you stop and think about it.

CRT is much like a scalpel. It can be a useful tool for analyzing or working through a very specific situation. However, you would not want to use CRT, much like you would not want to use a scalpel, on just any old situation or medical procedure. The issue I personally have with really focusing in the Colleges of Education on what Wesley Yang refers to as "Successor Ideologies" is that a lot of these 22 year old children who are learning to be teachers have absolutely NO idea how these pedagogical practices will play out down the road.

As for the parents at school board meetings, a lot of them would do well to educate themselves on these issues before storming into a school board and threatening teachers or educators. Yes, some things that are happening in classrooms right now are ATROCIOUS. That's bad and I stand against that. I actually went to my first ever school board meeting myself this year, on behalf of my son, who is now in Kindergarten. But watching Fox News for four minutes and ranting and raving about CRT does not equal understanding Derrick Bell or bell hooks, nor does it give you a deep understanding and appreciation of the social movements over the past three decades (maybe four or five, if you're feeling deep enough) and how we got to this place.

If you truly want to figure out a way forward, you have to first figure out how you got to a place, and not just yelling about some aspect of the place you are currently situated in. It takes a lot of work, far more that can be done in a thread on a message board where people are called Knuckleheads.

Anyway, there's my thoughts. Thanks for reading.

To all the whatabouters in this thread, this isn't about BLM or Antifa or your false equivalencies. Be happy to have those conversations.

This is about school board members who are volunteers, giving their time to help make their schools better for their kids. They are being receiving death threats, being intimidated and harassed. At the meetings, at work, at their homes. Police are escorting some from the meetings.

Parents have the right to attend the meetings and voice their opinions, scream their opinions about masks or CRT or whatever. But what's going on is way over the top.......whether it's this crap or idiots chasing Sinema into a bathroom.

Good, decent, qualified people are leaving public service in droves because of this garbage. How many people considering public service will decide against it because of it. Why would they put themselves or their families through the ordeal or risk?

You know, you can be anti mask or anti CRT and disagree with the school board and still say this shit is wrong. Just because you may agree with someone's position doesn't mean you have to agree with the way they express it. But when you reply with whataboutisms that aren't even comparable and ignore what's going on, you're saying this shit is ok........unless....I guess.......a school board member gets hurt or killed.

This stuff isn't ok.

In fairness, a fair amount of people are leaving public education not because of parents going overboard, but because of mandates of what they teach. There are a lot of issues going on at once, and most certainly some insane ideologues from both sides are ramping up issues by yelling whataboutisms, which of course, are often completely different issues that have nothing to do with anything, other than tribal animosity and group partisanship. For as many people that claim to be against CRT, they seemingly are just as angry about ANTIFA or BLM as groups, but none of these things are monolithic entities. They are created and made up of individuals...it seems like it would do a lot of people well in this thread to remember that.

Can you point to a study that breaks down the number of people leaving public service (teachers, school board members, nurses, doctors, etc) by reason?

I haven't seen one. So I'm not sure whether it is "fair" to say that a fair amount of people are leaving public education because of mandates. I've seen isolated reports of it here and there, but no study or anything that would back your claim.

I think we should be careful trying to equate sides of a topic because there are "good people on both sides"

There are likely a "fair amount of people" that believe the moon landing was fake, the earth is flat, the Covid vaccine will kill you, 5G is going to give you cancer, Bill Gates is going to turn us into mutant zombies, and that George Soros has funded all of it.

Just because there are people and individuals that back random theories they hear on social media or their favorite news networks doesn't make the individual's positions any more credible.

CRT in public schools is going to go by the same wayside like many other rage-fueled media conspiracies that have come before it.

In June, the term was mentioned 993 times during Fox News programming, including overnight rebroadcasts of daytime and prime-time shows. In July, it was mentioned 921 times. That was after being mentioned only 132 times in all of 2020.

....

In August, however, critical race theory was mentioned only 325 times on Fox News. And in September, the theory was mentioned only 150 times on the network’s programming.

....

Overall, the drop has also been pronounced on Newsmax and One America News (OAN), two conservative upstart channels seeking to outflank Fox News Channel to the right. Critical race theory was mentioned 930 times on Newsmax in June but only 242 times in September. The theory was mentioned more than 1,000 times on OAN in June but only 208 times in September.

Soon we'll be back to being outraged by Starbucks cups, cancel-culture, big tech censorship, wars on Christmas, lazy welfare takers, etc.

Dance, monkeys, dance.

Got it.
The NSBA doesn't want the Biden Adm. directed FBI investigations into the protesting parents called domestic terrorist investigations.
Should the FBI be investigating local public meeting disagreements?
Has anyone been shot? Have the protesting parents followed the board members to restaurants and harassed them?
Have the parents burned school buses or lab rooms?
So why is he FBI involved? Inquiring minds want to know.

Did not know that.

Tell me how that changes the argument. Because they might be paid means they should put up with or not be concerned about death threats?
No one should have to deal or put up with death threats. Once identified authorities should be contacted and dealt with accordingly.

I've never heard of unpaid school board members. To my knowledge, they are all elected officials that collect a salary.
I believe a few in some small rural districts may be a voluntary position.

Guy that got fooled by a pillow salesman thinks someone else is a clown. Italian satellites didn't change any votes, there were no secret watermarks on Arizona ballots, there were no fake ballots made of bamboo flown in from China. I'd think a lesson would have been learned one of these times, but I'm sure you'll just keep going.

But don’t forget when the counting was mysteriously halted at several cities in swing states with Trump ahead but then was behind when they reopened. Also don’t forget Atlanta had to cease counting during this time due to a “water leak “ that was confirmed later wasn’t. Also don’t forget poll observers were prevented from doing their job but other than that it was a fair election. The good news is I may get my SALT before the incompetent misfits are voted out

Yes, I absolutely am convinced your a clown, as well as all the others that voted for Biden, all 81,000 of you. The difference is, I recognize and admit when I’ve been fooled, you idiots just keep doubling down even after being proven wrong on numerous occasions (Wuhan, Hunter Laptop, Russian collusion to name just a few).
You’re vote is complicit in creating the mess this country is currently in and you’re either too stupid or too far gone to realize it.

@indy35 is a good and stupid left winger. He doesn’t engage with people who don’t tow the party line and doesn’t answer to anybody except for the leaders of the party. It’s party first and everything else in life second. What a hoot he is.
