I say he is the safest pick for our next coach. I was leaning towards getting a coach that runs a high tempo offense because I believe it's a great equalizer when facing more talented teams (as we have seen with Purdue and Joe Tiller and more currently with Indiana). However, after looking at Coach Bohl's track record and his success in turning around Wyoming (currently beating #13 BSU) I think he would be a very good coach for us, and a less risky pick compared to the up and coming PJ Fleck. It's true his offensive style is conservative but it works because his defenses complement it. A conservative offense doesn't win you games if the defense doesn't back you up. But Wisconsin and Iowa, and Minnesota to an extent, have shown us that in our conference, the combination can produce winning teams, even facing more talented teams like OSU, Michigan, MSU.
I feel additionally, it will allow us to build on our current system and recruits, instead of having to start all over installing a new up tempo system and having to recruit for it. I feel the turn around would be less painful. Thoughts?
