Could we use NIL to recruit some top offensive linemen?

So far, most NIL sponsorships seem to be going to top QBs and RBs. How about we emphasize NIL for OL? Line up some sponsors for either top high school OL or transfer portal guys and tell 'em that they will be paid for promotions at Bob Rhorman or Caterpillar or whatever. Maybe we'd be the only college in the nation where OL could cash in on NIL.

Someone should pony up to get George to stay
I actually don't like the concept of NIL payouts but how about Bob Rohrman auto giving OL recruits a new car to drive for as long as they are on the team? Plus free gas and car washes. Just put a sign on the vehicle with the OL's name and jersey number and say "Courtesy of Bob Rohrman Auto"

I think this is actually very easy to do, and boosters can be involved as well. I believe Arkansas has an NIL gig for the OL thru a local restaurant. To be successful at Purdue I think the interested fans/boosters should form an LLC that raises money and then pays the OL, in exchange for NIL benefits (photos, auotographs, dinner for donors). The LLC should partner with a local business (Rohrman, restaurant, etc) to inject additional cash so that the local business can get adequate ROI. A good starting point would be $100-200k split amongst participating lineman.

I don't think you can target recruits directly. The way to manipulate NIL is to get deals for your current players. Then make sure the recruits are aware.

It’s a nice sentiment but the NIL is like everything else in college football. It will help the rich get richer.
The top programs will profit. The ball handlers will profit. An occasional big guy might get some NIL scraps but not often.

If this isn’t happening, I’d be shocked. Our OL and Purdue Ag connections for Indiana Pork Producers Association.

I actually really like your idea about starting an LLC specifically for the O line. Throw the D line in their too as part of that gig and you might just have something.

I could be wrong about it because I don’t know much about the NIL rules, but I don’t think you can create a shell LLC slush fund to pay off players directly. I think the kids still have to endorse something for it to be legit, even if it’s just appearing in some commercials or even just sending tweets in support of a company. I guess an argument could be made that kids promoting Boilercash.com LLC on Twitter could count, but it would look suspect if the sole function of the company were to redirect funds from boosters to kids.

NIL is the definition of operating in the gray area, I don’t see why something like that would be a problem, at least for now.

Like I said, I could be wrong. But my understanding of it is that the players have to give something in return for money. Maybe it could be as simple as driving around in a free car with a Bob Rohrman license plate holder? Certainly would in a free car with a Rohrman wrap job. I just can't think of any NIL deals I've heard of that are straight payments to players with no strings attached as far as players doing something for the sponsors.

IMO it'd be safer to have big boosters spend on kids in exchange for weekly tweets/endorsements than take the risk of something being consider pay-for-play and getting sideways with the rules. Like you said, it's such a gray area already, I wouldn't risk future problems when it's so easy to work within the "rules" as they are.
