Worthless Repubs in Congress screwed Seniors. No tax on SS not in "Big Beautiful Bill". At best they get a new $4000 deduction amounting to maybe $480 off taxes.....and even that runs out in 2029 where that is no longer available. Just another example why I say BOTH parties are worthless and are not to be trusted.

Totally agree as they do absolutely nothing promised to benefit seniors.

Plus this Big Crappy Bill is going to add almost $4 trillion dollars to the deficit. The repubs sure don't mind blowing out the deficit when there is a repub president. This is why voodoo economics don't work.

No tax on SS could not be changed via the budget reconciliation process. Most proposals by President Trump are included. Another viewpoint on the SS tax and other tax reductions from 2017 is that 214 members members of the House voted for a massive tax increase.

My big bitch is the SALT increase. Why should I as a federal tax payer subsidize state and local tax states for NY, CA and other high tax states. Rep. Lawler should be bitching at Gov. Hochel to reduce NY taxes.

Under reconciliation they could have given seniors a ~ $2500 tax credit and keep it permanent instead of of 2029 sunset.....that would have worked fine for the promise. Instead they decided to screw seniors - gave a hapless paltry deduction. I won't forget.

Agree on 100% on SALT.

BNI, you have this anti GOP attitude about everything Trump. Please tell us what you would do different to prove your points.

That’s because Chump sucks.

Just answer this question. Is this big crappy bill going to increase the deficit?

Answer mine. I've asked it of you multiple times now and yet....you digress. You can't just say "Trump Sucks" and expect it to be a credible answer.
This is an opinion forum, if I think that Chump sucks I have a right to say it. If you don’t like it, tough. A lot of folks that voted for him admit that he sucks. But they like the conservative policies. I just don’t like Chump nor most of the conservative policies. One policy that sucks like Chimp does is this big crappy bill that some repubs like Marjorie Taylor Greene didn’t even like some of the stuff in it. If she read it prior to voting for she probably would not have voted for it.

Sounds a lot like the Obama care bill (1600+ pages) that no one read with a vote shortly after it was handed out before the weekend.

Houston, we have a problem. Anytime 1600 pages 1000 pages 500 pages and so forth are needed for any bill. There is an inherit problem inside the government of trying to not do what is right but everybody get their political career going by supporting certain constituents. Grow the blob and grow the corruption as we have seen.

Difference in the two bills....

1. Dems signed it without reading with no dissension.

2. Repubs read it before voting on it and have some dissension that may stop it.

3. Who's the most honest party?
Several Republicans admitted they didn't read the bill when some of the provisions came out in the media, especially the one about regulating AI.

Both parties are guilty of that. Michael Moore (for all his flaws) exposed that in Fahrenheit 9/11, when members of both parties admitted they hadn't read the Patriot Act.

That said, Obamacare worked for a LOT of people. The Ugly Deficit Exploder Bill will help a few billionaires, but that's about it.

Obamacare was and is a joke as is the founder. It's cost taxpayers a ton because it wasn't planned out nor implemented correctly. The great divider hurt this country so much during his four years.

If Obamacare is so bad then why the repubs never replaced it with anything better? Or repeal it like they have been talking about since 2012.

That is 100% not true......benefits ALL tax paying Americans in ALL tax brackets.

And that comes from a guy that opposed the BBB because senior promise of no tax on SS was left out .

That is to be determined.
The plan is to reduce taxes, cut energy costs, reduce regulations and reduce red tape to boost the economy and GDP.
Hopefully the Senate can find more waste to cut too!
Like tariffs, there is a short term view and a long term view as opposed to keep on as in the past

Supposed recision packages cutting Billions will be coming up soon.
What's interesting is that a few of the people who were looking for waste couldn't find any, so they just decided to cut a whole bunch of vital programs instead, like the National Weather Service. I'm really looking forward to weathering hurricane season in NC without accurate hurricane path predictions. It's also going to be great when a hurricane devastates a region and Trump arbitrarily decides not to give out enough money for recovery (like he's already doing to my friends in western NC who were affected by Helene).

no longer having a condo on the beach in Florida, I haven't kept up with the insurance coverage of the pooled sites. I do know hurricanes move VERY slowly and so the question I would have is whether a local service rather than a national service would suffice. I don't know that it would, but experienced very few people moving out of an area a day or two in advance of the anticipated storm. Many stay put for fear of a few of looting and such. I left the beach ONE time in 20 years.

I'm guessing the continued tax on those with SS is due to being convinced that SS might run out of money...which some will blame for living longer. However, the numbers suggest quite a mismanagement of SS taken without consent from the taxpayer. It doesn't take a lot of math to see some problems.

Obamacare hurt just as many people as it helped.

The National Weather Service wasn't completely cut. They did get rid of a lot of staff, but most were not needed.

Where do you get your info from?
