Conference Realignment Story Says Boilers Or IU Could End Up In The MAC

Wow! Morgan Burke is truly a visionary... that's why he hired Haz because we would need a MAC coach in our future.

Grasping at straws. If I want to watch the best I'll watch the pro's. The writer ignores the large alumni base of large universities. Become irrelevant and I won't care at all nor watch. $$$ does talk.
I've already begun losing interest the larger the big ten has become.
But I think the 16 team conf's are inevitable.

I actually like the relegation idea, but that would be the most difficult to happen.
I think most would just be left out period, especially since most he listed are heavily basketball schools anyway.

Purdue will never leave the B1G because we literally started the B1G
University of Chicago was also one of the founding members. Per the Big 10 official site: University of Chicago formally withdrew from the conference due to inability to "provide reasonable equality of competition as of June 30, 1946." One could make the argument that Purdue FB is now also on that same level. Never say Never.

And we have only won one more B1G football championship than Chicago!

Might as well throw this here.

Idaho, and possibly nmsu, is dropping to fcs.
Wouldn't be surprised to see few more, and I'd think this would only enhance the likelihood of the 4-5 mega conferences.

No it is not. As bad as this seems, this is no where near where IU was for an extended amount of time or Northwestern in the early 80's where they went 0-34 at one point.

We're not only a founding father -- our president called the meeting to start the whole thing.

The Big Ten is our baby ... even if the bastards at BTN don't seem to realize it.

The reason these two are dropping is more about which conference they were playing in. Both of these schools were geographically way outside the Sunbelt conference.

I don't know if it will go down like this, especially the moving up and down between major and mid-major thing. Can't see that. However, as the arms race ratchets up in College Football I can see Purdue and/or IU pulling a Marquette and dropping their football program altogether and more basketball only conferences emerging, or Purdue stays in the BIG but doesn't play football.

Purdue dropping football is ridiculous. Far too much history. Sad how far Hazell and Burke have sank the program that this would even be a conversation. At least our next coach can't possibly be any worse.

That would mean forfeiting $40 million in TV money- not gonna happen.
