If we tie with IU for the title with best record, or we both considered champs or are they since they beat us in head to head?

So we still would get credit for having won conf championship this year? Dont care about BTT.
The Big regular season is all screwed up because of the number of teams and unbalanced schedules. We had advantage of multiple games against bad teams and lost head to head against better teams. If we tie for best record no way we deserve to be called champions.

It has worked against us in past, i.e. last year, so yes we will be champs and should celebrate it.

Conference expansion bastardizing and degrading the regular season championship is one more reason to despise it.

Once the west coast interlopers join, the B1G might as well go to division championships as in football.

We would have to lose both remaining games to tie with iu.

You think that's happening????

***. If we tie for best record no way we deserve to be called champions.

Go tell that to the Purdue players and Painter - see what they say.

Before the season, just about everyone would have taken this position for the Boilers. I get it - people get frustrated and disappointed, especially with the best start in school history.....but none of us truly know what these young men go through and sacrifice, all while representing Purdue University.

And I suppose I'll get reamed for stating this, but give some credit to Indiana - they're a good team, and they were the better team last night and deserved to win.

Not the ideal way for the last part of the regular season to play out.....I for one am interested to see IF they learn and grow from this or not...and get a better result and still reach their goals. Let's see how they handle more adversity - it's a long grind of a season.

Not to say there isn't constructive criticism to go around, and hey - everybody has the right to be disappointed, upset, however they feel.......or whatever perspective or prism they want to view through.......I just pose a slightly different alternative to consider.

Wisconsin is either the last 4 in or on the bubble for the Big Dance. They will play out of their minds. Refs will be similar to the NW game I predict. You never know what Illini team will show up in Mackey and they have no pressure coming in. Shannon and Goode could light us up from deep.

Wisconsin is not good and we match up extremely well against them. They have no legit size and do not pressure the ball-handlers like other teams have done well against us. I fully expect to win that game. It would just be nice to make a few shots.

Shannon is very good. Goode hardly plays at least when I watch them.

No doubt, we would have taken a B1G title before the season started. Plenty of areas to grow from this experience and they will become more savvy.

Goode is an Indiana kid so you never know. He is tight with Loyer. They know each others tendencies.

I hope you are right about Wisconsin. Wahl is starting to turn it on. Hope they get in foul trouble. Essegian is another Indiana kid that worries me. I hope we are not doubling underneath.

Yes W needs a win badly. Against us would be a feather in their cap for any possibility of NCAAT. I worry about Essigian going off like all Indiana guys "saying with their play, you should have recruited me".
Still, if we play the way we can, we can and should win.

Illinois, can be defended to play bad. Will we do it .....I don't know??

But losing 2 more on top of our recent losses, would be an EPIC collapse of a former number 1 team like never before.

Let's win both and finish strong!

Certainly hope not, but a possibility and I do believe IU wins out.
Any reason to believe the team as it is playing now ( losing to everybody except horrible OSU), will win against teams also needing a win for seeding? Make me feel better please. can this team playing like this win a game in the next two?

The Boilers match up favorably with Wisconsin, plus the Badgers don't apply the kind of pressure that has given Purdue fits. A decent shooting night should result in a win for the Boilers.

As for Illinois, it depends on which version of the Illini show; for our purposes we should hope for the Washington Generals version.

Head to head doesn't matter for the conference title. If 5 teams tied at the end of the year with the same conference record, all 5 teams get a trophy and a banner as big ten regular season champs that year.

Just to show the craziness of this season - technically, Purdue has not even clinched a double bye in the BTT. Unlikely to happen perhaps, but there is a scenario for a five-way tie for the title with Purdue, Maryland, Indiana, Northwestern, and Illinois @ 13-7.

BTT seeds in order would be Maryland, Northwestern, Indiana, Illinois, and Purdue.

Maryland leads Northwestern 41-39 at the half.

But lllinois down 12 at the half.

Or Michigan instead of IU but yeah.

Haha - yes - could have a 4-way tie with NW, Maryland, Michigan, and Purdue. I think the BTT seeds would be Michigan, Maryland, Purdue, and NW.

What would the odds be? That's your bailiwick, Chi-Boiler. :)

Of course, the Boilers could do something about it next week and end those scenarios.

Man, those 4 as the double-byes? That would be a little weird because I'm not sure the smart money would be on any of them. Probably Purdue as a slight favorite but very close including Indiana as well.

That is insane

Update - it looks like Maryland will finish its conference home slate 10-0, as they have opened things up against Northwestern - 73-55 under three minutes. If the Terps could somehow bottle that up for away from home - look out.

It was a bitter pill for the Boilers last night certainly, but it looks like they will clinch at least a tie now for the conference regular season championship. If they win either of the two remaining games - will be outright conference champions. No small achievement.

Essegian playing tough. Crazy that a 3 star freshman is their go to guy. Hepburn left the game with an injury. We’ll see if he plays Thursday. They didn’t miss a beat though without him.

Oh my Dickinson tied it with a 3! Cue the well deserved flex.

Wisconsin blew that game. Should have fouled Dickinson before he attempted the 3 that sent the game to OT. Now they will be extra fired up for us lol.

Great....a desperate Wisconsin.
And an Essigian that is on fire who would love nothing better than prove he is the best guard on the court. Lovely.

Not enough time really, once Crowl missed the steal. If he fouled him it would have been on the shot.
