It' is true that according to the RPI, Purdue has 3 bad losses. But they are not alone.

"Bad losses" by:

Lunardi's Last 4 byes:
Ole Miss - #121 TCU, #201 Charleston Southern
Iowa - None
Xavier - Creighton #119, Depaul #127, Auburn #128
Colorado State - New Mexico #120

Last 4 in:
Purdue - #103 Vandy, #132 Gardner-Webb, #198 North Florida
Miami - #130 FSU, #151 EKU
Old Dominion - #143 UAB, #150 Middle Tennessee
Temple - #102 UNLV, #172 St Joe

First Four Out:
George Washington - None
St Johns - #119 Creighton, #127 Depaul
Kansas State - #140 Texas Southern, #146 Texas Tech
Clemson - #115 Rutgers, #130 FSU, #132 Gardner-Webb, #239 Winthrop

Next Four Out:
NC State - #138 Wake Forest
Tennessee - #136 Marquette, #165 Mississippi St
Wyoming - #110 California, #168 Utah St
Richmond - #107 Northeastern, #138 Wake Forest, #179 James Madison

Some of those teams have lesser "bad losses" than Purdue. Some have worse. But none of those teams have 8 Top 100 RPI wins, and only 2 (NCSU and Xavier) have 7. Only Kansas State has more (4) than Purdue's 3 RPI Top 50 wins.

That is how soft the bubble is.
