No we didn't lose bc of one guy. That doesn't mean you can't critique the clear shortcomings of any one guy.
Loyer is not a good defensive player. He is a great shooter and he understands the system. He works very well when he has a lot of defensive attention focused on the interior, less so when it's focused on him.
I'm guessing they're talking to a lot of young men. Question is, is it rumor or fact?
Bro you literally said everyone outside of the big 3 would transfer. Literahlee…you even added in burgess recently wait for it…after someone else posted it. Making a thousand (often absurd) predictions and then one of them (based on odds) comes true does not make a prognosticator.

the Colvin situation reminds me of some highly rated wr's playing on a wishbone type team in H.S.
I don't see a situation. He got his chances and a lot of times couldn't convert. Near unplayable mid season. When kids shy away from competing on a high level team it tells you something. He should stay and learn how to compete and sharpen his skills. Guards who have left haven't exactly showed out. Rosie should tell him to buckle down and grind.
What's the list of players who have transferred out of Purdue and been significantly better on the P5 level to the point where you can say Painter misused them?
I do think Colvin has the chance to take a big jump forward statistically on a new team and appear to be that guy. Give him shots and I think he can be a big scorer. In 2 years, we might really miss him. However, if I had to bet, I'd take my chances that Purdue has a better ORtg than the team that ends up with Colvin next year. That's not a knock on Myles; it's just the reality of how efficient you need to be to be featured among the group Purdue currently has.

Exactly. He could become a Tonje or Storr type of player at Wisconsin or a Storr type of player at Kansas, but we know Purdue will be fine with or without and that's not a knock on him.
I think he figured there was either room for him or Cam, but not both. Cam became the more consistent, reliable player and was also a better defender/rebounder.
Nice high light reel. Not quite as athletic as Colvin but not a stiff either. Good handles, attacks off the bounce and can finish. Didn't see him shoot much from outside (but didn't watch the whole reel).
Agree. I lived MC as well but he wanted to be a 6'5 athlete who launches a ton of 3s. Never developed the driibble/drive and his jumper was too inconsistent, especially in big games.
Very similar player to Brandon Newman. But BN never became a star either.
Offense didn’t really incorporate that for him. BUT I assume in practice he didn’t give the coaches confidence he could do those things well enough in a game

Athletic,could jump over everyone and get his shot off.

MC is more physically talented but he lacked consistency and didn't play well in big games. Even Loyer, who plays like a 45 yr old in a church league, has developed a little bit of an ability to put the ball on the floor and drive. Colvin rarely did that.

Players that transfer to Purdue don't have to be better than their previous location, they just have to make Purdue better. Lance Jones average 13+ ppg his last 3 years at SIU. At Purdue he averaged 11. Was he better here than SIU? Statistically no, but Purdue was a much better team with him here. Transfers are likely coming from mid-majors where they are the go-to guy and have a higher usage. Their stats are going to take a hit because of the talent that surrounds them. I don't think they need to be better here, they just need to help improve the weaknesses and make Purdue better.
Wisky has a good system for him, he'd do well there
Last few games it felt to me like he was flinging it at the basket with very little confidence and touch.
Easy to say now of course, but i really didn't have any confidence when he was shooting end of season.
Another good big makes it so 2 bigs will likely be playing most/all of the time. Especially if that lets you win rebounding again.
That lets you live with a 3 guard lineup, much as I hate it....
More likely now that Cox/Harris or the new guys man that 3 spot. IF Cam isn't quick enough to stay with 3's he could be odd man out.
And of course a transfer is hopefully at play here too.
I still had high hopes for Myles and it's disappointing to me that he's leaving. But I still wanted a transfer to come in and create more competition to elevate the position even if he's stayed.
I think his decision says a lot about the caliber of his competition and what he thought about his chances to force his way into more pt.
He had some games down the stretch where I was really impressed with him, but I think that Heide played better within the offense and was looking to be ahead of him in the rotation next season. I still think that Colvin has the talent to be a very good player, but I am not sure that Purdue was the best place to get that opportunity next season. I think that this is probably good for Colvin and solves a bit of a logjam for Purdue.
If Painter can bring in that 6'8 wing scorer and a 6'5 guard who can shoot, handle the ball and get his own shot, then I'd say that's about as perfect of a portal haul as we could ask for.
Definitely would like the first guy.
How many of the 2nd guy are even out there?
My guess is we get one guy that does some of that. We still need to get Braden and TKR resigned.
Some people have posted in the other portal thread some dudes that fit that big, athletic guard mold. I'm not sure it would happen, but I'd like to see a guy who pushes Loyer for his starting spot. Bring Loyer off the bench as an instant offense 3 pt shooter when the matchups work.

Don't get drug in to woleblab's delusions of grandure.. at best he just regurgitates what everyone else is already saying then tries to take credit for it. He's been doing it for ages now and somehow thinks he is still fooling everyone yet has been outed countless times and hence why most/many of us just put him on ignore.3

Mostly agree, Colvin struggled shooting this year, he missed a ton of open threes.
He seemed to just settle for those shots as well instead of using his other skills. I truly hope he finds what he is looking for wherever he ends up next.
This. We all liked the glimpses of him when he was good. But reality is he did miss a ton of open 3's. And a national contender isn't going to keep putting that player out there or run plays for him. They're going to play someone that makes more shots. That was coming if he didn't get better.
Those guys are going for big bucks. IU offered Conwell $2 million supposedly, and got outbid by Louisville.
For this upcoming season, we need guys who can knock down the open shots created by Braden and TKR.
We will need creators for 2026-27, but I’m not worrying about that now.
I feel like Harris is some version of what is being described. Question is, is he 50% that guy or 90% that guy?
Then you weren't paying attention to our scoring droughts against good defensive teams where nobody could get a good look.
Next seasons team desperately needs another creator.
