Don’t use tiredness as an excuse for a loss…good teams find a way to beat a team at home who is only 2 games over .500 coming in. We sucked tonight….and have major issues playing 3 (Smith, Loyer, Kaufman-Renn) on 5. If one of those three is off …then it is very, very difficult to win. Painter isn’t helping the confidence of Colvin and Heidi by not running plays for those two. If Colvin and Heidi bolt after this season for a new start and are very productive elsewhere…that would not surprise me at all. Colvin and Heidi are talented…but Painter is not making use of that talent or does not know how , which frankly is very bad coaching!

I think they would do better if we ran a more up tempo O, now w/ a mostly slowed downed half court O that uses up alot of clock the amount of possessions are limited so some of the guys just don't get enough opportunities to shine

Loyers defense isn’t as bad as everyone thinks it is. Parrish got hot last night and whoever was on him, pretty sure he was going to hit those 3s regardless.

Put Newman in, same thing. He bolted and was a superstar and now in the NBA. Oh wait, he went to a lower tier program , got more minutes and had a mediocre career after Purdue. You have to make the most of your minutes in the game and show some consistency from game to game. Heide and Colvin have not. The fact is neither have good handles, the same thing that doomed Newman.

I really like Colvin and Heide, but like a lot of others, I think I've been overly optimistic about their potential because of the occasional highlight dunk and display of crazy athleticism, looking past the fact that both have major shortcomings.
Neither has handles or the ability to get into the lane and finish, unless it's on a fast break.

Off breakdowns from the defense/their defense being more concerned with smith shooting and him kicking it over to a wide open Harris (who wasn’t shooting it very well from 3 all year).

I agree. I think if you're going to play those 2 together, you put them on the floor with Smith, Cox and probably Furst and try to speed up the pass, get into transition, get points that way until you bring TKR and Fletch back in to run half court.

Yes, another night of little to no contributions from Colvin and Heide, seems that is going to be what we get more often than not. Don't see this changing anytime soon. But we lost this game because Braden was terrible and we didn't shoot the three.

Point is there were opportunities and he took advantage. Heide and Colvin often do not.

Please don’t compare to what Loyer does overall for the team. They were outplayed by Purdue’s Freshman guards. Both scored and helped give Smith a break with their ball handling. Colvin and Heide don’t have the ball handling skill to help Smith. They need to show up when they play. They mostly do on D, but need to grab more boards and to hit some shots like Harris and Cox did.

At this point I am actually rather concerned that they both might "move on" after this season. Yes I HATE... (read that again) HATE putting that out there, but something is off with those two. I really hope (read that again) HOPE I am wrong and it's just a blip.... but something is off.

If it continues, their playing time will become less and less because there is talent behind them itching to play and contribute more than just highlight reel type things.
