Colvin and Heide yikes

Benter will be impactful next year I think. You can't discount kids that aren't successful as sophs right away. Plenty of very fine players that didn't put it together till they were upperclassmen. I'm sure Paint will weigh all the options. But I also won't be worried if they stand pat.
If everyone is back. Not sure where the mins come from. Not saying he’s not good. But who does he take mins from?

They absolutely can, but the reality is that they vast majority of portal options wouldn't be. Who was Purdue going to realistically bring in that would be a better scoring option in Purdue's system than Smith, Loyer, and Trey?
Don't know, depends on who's available. Tons of factors go into that decision. I know Painter loves Loyer, but a 6'5 shooter who also has handles, get beat the D off the dribble and rebound would compete for minutes at the 2-3.

Who’s not sticking around? Smith would be the only one that may leave and that’s for the nba. And I don’t think he leaves unless he’s guaranteed a 1st round spot.

TKR is featured and our leading scorer and fletch is the second best shooter in the country right now and why would he leave?
I don't know any of them personally so don't know what might motivate them to leave. NIL and the portal have created a strange environment and we never know what would happen.

Care to make a gentlemen's bet on how many we lose to the portal this off-season?
Total or guys in the rotation? Unless something surprising happens in the next two months, I don't think anyone would be surprised to see Berg or Waddell test the waters.

I'm guessing 3-4. Not naming names, but I have my ideas.
But here's a hint. Waddell isn't one of them. I think Waddell is happy being a part of Purdue and on the team, following in this dad's footsteps. He's going to get a free pharmacy degree from Purdue, he probably knows his playing days are over after he graduates. I think he's just here for the experience and to enjoy the ride.

Didn’t realize he was a pharmacy major. Is that a five year degree before the PharmD?

I think you’re high if BW isn’t one of them. I’d guess two and would be shocked if it’s more than 3.

He's not a pharmacy major, that was his dad. And he should be graduating this year, so maybe he is just done with ball.

Berg is obvious, but I don't see how bone is getting to 4 transfers. Unless he thinks one or more of our big 3 will chase money or that Heide, Colvin, and Harris are bolting.

Ignoring BW, I have Berg as most likely with either Heide and Colvin as potential. I'd actually be surprised to see any one individual outside of BW or Will transfer, but in aggregate, it makes sense that someone might bolt.

I've said this before but I also wouldn't be surprised to see all of these guys stick around if this season goes well (close to a Big Ten championship or makes an NCAAT run). I think these guys all legitimately care about winning and if next year looks like it could be a Big Ten Championship team with the potential for a FF run, you may get guys who are willing to play smaller roles to be a part of that.

That 6’5 shooter gonna shoot almost 50% from 3 like fletch?

Cuz Fletch has shot 48% from 3 since the start of…2024 to now.

Fletch also plays pretty good defense this year, his passing has improved and as I talked about Gillis being the glue guy, Fletch has that role this year.

I can't see Smith leaving at the end of this season. He's still got another year to shove it up the arse of those coaches who didn't give him the time of day.

I can see Heide, or Colvin leaving. Berg could make more money than he's making now and wouldn't blame him for leaving and in the right situation, he could become a starter.

I’m not saying Smith will. But if somehow and that’s a BIG BIG BIG somehow he gets a guarantee to go first round, he should go. If not, then he will be back 100%.

There was a shot last night where he drove and it was more of an off balanced, one armed push shot (I think) and he missed it. And that’s a shot he needs to have in his bag for the next level, so I’d look for him to improve in being able to create and finish around the rim a lot more consistently. Not the layups around the rim but more so being able to pull up in traffic and score. That’s something he’s not shown he’s good at just yet. Of course that can improve but just something I think he’d def need to improve upon.

Also, he has the chance to be the all time leader in assists not only at Purdue but potentially of all time. I’d think he’d want that.

I hope Heide and Colvin (as you know) don’t leave. I think it’d be not the smartest decision for either.

Berg I can def see tho. He’s not going to get much PT at Purdue.

I really don't want to see either go either, and I believe Berg is one really good game from getting a lot more minutes.

Berg, TKR, and Furst up front with Smith and Loyer would give teams fits.

Personally, Smith is going to need another year to have a chance at the pros. He's a great player in college, but his size is going to be the issue.
