They can disable most college team offenses.
If they aren't a FF team, baring injury, I don't know what one is. I give them a great shot at the NC in April. Impressive team that is fun to watch on both sides of the ball.

There is nobody on this team comparable to Ivey talent wise. It was obvious from day one. He needed time to get over injury and deal with clogged lane post centric offense. But he was clearly one of if not the fastest player in college basketball.
Good lord they both looked lost tonight against Toledo. Heide getting yelled at by Braden and Loyer, Colvin missing the ally oop and the easy dunk, both still can't hit a jump shot. Both look like they are going through a major sophomore slump. Looked like neither of them had any confidence in what they were doing.

Worst to me is one rebound. They could get at least a few more on effort. The subs got 17. Some guy on Toledo who averages 5 got 11.
Colvin & Heide together 1 R 1A 0 pts.......and that's against Toledo.
It's beyond YIKES now.
Saw no change from the offense. The 2 point shots were on fast breaks and the half court was 3 pointers. We gotta find a way.
Coach Painter called it out after the game, if guys miss shots, they can’t let it affect the other aspects of their game. That’s why Cam and Myles got reduced minutes, yes not securing, but no D/rebounds nailed it
Better flow in the second half to me. Giving up 17 offensive boards though was a big, big, problem. Brcic bullied them all game, and they'll face a lot more of that the next three months - gotta embrace it and deal with it on both ends of the floor.
I don't know how much you can compartmentalize it - I think Painter does run some stuff for them. Think there has been some loss of confidence, maybe?
Then, when they get a look/opportunity, seem to be pressing a bit - start on defense and the glass, but no question they need to score some too......Cam Heide didn't get many minutes the 2nd half IIRC......17 total minutes......Colvin with 19. Cox and Harris with 14 and 12, respectively. Think it's back to whoever is providing the most is going to get more minutes.....might be a good thing if it raises everyone's level/intensity.

I sees what I sees. Might as well bring them off the bench at this point. Did like Furst with TKR and Harris in the 2nd.
Man I hope so. Would like to see Furst start at the 5 and TKR back to his 4 spot to help with rebounding. Start Cox over Colvin.
Furst yes at 5, always preferred TKR at 4 with best 5 that steps up, otherwise you have two guys out of position, Cam being the 2nd
Give Cox a shot at starting, let’s see how this 5 looks

I would bet there will be some changes back and forth.....maybe Heide comes off the bench again - and Colvin starts for back-court defense, although I maybe could see Harris and Furst against some match-ups.
We'll know more.......next year.

I think Caleb is playing fairly well and can help on defense and in rebounding against bigger lineups. I suspect that most teams will make it difficult on us schematically on offense as he’s not much of a threat to score at this point.
LOL. The whole rest of the team other than the B3 weren't much of a threat yesterday.
Coaches have some work to do there to bring on these supplemental scorers.

I have no clue what is going on with Colvin and Cam though.. watching them yesterday was...... painful. However it sure seems like Burgess, Cox and Harris are coming around and with injuries... Burgess NOT redshirting turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Not meant to be a knock on Caleb, but he isn’t really a supplemental scorer at this point. IMO, not shooting well and not being a threat to shoot aren’t the same.
Burgess starts cause he is a threat from 3. Have Cam 1st off the bench and keep the minutes close to yesterday from the rest. Colvin is better defensively on the point so keep him in there. BUT let’s not panic we are still at the top of the Big, not as dominant as the past 2 years
The next five games will tell us a lot as to whether we’re still in that hunt.
I fully expect an "L" at Rutgers... as I hate playing there and I think they have at least one guy on that team in his 30s (sarcasm for those with no sarcasm detector). 4 and 1 over that stretch isn't a bad way to go though.
Furst needs to develop a mean streak. He's physically talented, but plays soft. At least TKR gets pissed off and is willing to match a teams physicality whereas I see Furst looking to the refs expecting a whistle too often.
These next 5 games are about as favorable as you can ask for. 5-0, great. 4-1 good. 3-2 WTH, 2-3 Oh shit.
Agree. I’d also like to see Trey look for a whistle less. IMO he at times gets overly physical when he doesn’t think he’s getting the calls he should and is going to pick up some cheap fouls that way but I’d rather that reaction than playing soft.
Colvin is the best on ball defender we have. Lengthwise and enough quickness he makes a huge difference. We also need Loyer’s offense but he is a horrible defensive player.
Agreed. He had an interview a bit ago where the interviewer asked him what he thought he brought to the table that differentiated him from the other bigs. His answer: “joy.” Cringed so hard. That’s the attitude we need from a come in only in a blow out player, not a rotation player.
Seems like a super tough question though, doesn’t it? Anything you say to prop yourself up would simultaneously put your teammates down. Number one rule there - don’t do that (and it sounds like he didn’t). Anything else is probably gonna come out awkwardly unless he’s thought about it before, I know I would have a hard time with a question like that if someone asked me on the spot.
Really? You wouldn't pick something that you think you bring to the table? Can easily say something to the effect of "I think I'm a really good rebounder" or something to the same effect without necessarily bringing anyone down.
That doesn’t really answer the question of what differentiates him though (which I guess is fine).

That’s true. I think I would have taken it better if it seemed like he had any fire at all regarding getting better instead of only hearing about how he wants to be a doctor after school. We desperately need a fourth at least playable guy, so a little bittersweet to me

Agreed. if he doesn't get calls he ends up putting a shoulder into someone hard in retaliation. he's gotten away with close no call several times in that situation.
