Why does the Big Ten affiliate with bowl games located in cold weather markets (even if some of the games are indoors)? There will be 42 bowl games this season and the vast majority will be in warm weather locations. Only 6 of the games will be located in cold-weather locations (New York, Detroit, Boston, Annapolis, Boise, Indianapolis), yet the Big Ten is affiliated with 2 of them. In a normal year there are only 5 cold-weather location games (national championship is in Indianapolis this season), so the Big Ten normally affiliates with 40% of them. There are so many great bowl locations the Big Ten should pursue for affiliation to replace New York and Detroit (Bahamas, Boca Raton, New Orleans, etc).
