Per Adam Rittenburg ESPN: Washington State inside receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard is leaving for a position at Purdue with new coach Jeff Brohm, sources said. Fox Sports first to report the move. Shephard had worked with Brohm at Western Kentucky before joining WSU this season.

I've heard Brohm's brother is OC. Has there been any other hires yet? Or just speculation?

These are the only two mentioned.

I like the shephard hire, if for nothing else, he is from Ft Wayne originally.

I thought they might keep Parker as WR coach. He did a good job as intern coach and recruiter.

re: Parker

I've mentioned before that Parker was not highly regarded within Indianapolis area HS's.

I liked the excitement the kids played with while he was HC, but I am not sorry to see him go. New coach should bring in an all new staff.

Any particular reason?

My gut feeling on the situation is Brohm continues to fill in his offense with coaches he has worked with but goes after a more established DC from outside his circle.

Dave Aranda (LSU D.C.) = new challenge and can show how capable he is to be ready for H.C. days ahead... I just looked his name up and see there is no snowball's chance in hell that will happen. He just inked the highest paid assistant coach in the nation at $1.8 Million per year. That is eye popping!!!
Anyone else like Dave Aranda that can transform defenses which stifle teams? We'd likely have heard of them already.

Yes Shephard shuts the door on Parker......shame I liked Parker but like Nat100 said...start fresh and cut bait.

DC will be the big hire and key piece in all of this......

Brohm recruiting local kids in 3 hour distance will put parents and friends in the seats to start season tickets and game ticket sales......But hope he still recruits nationally in Texas, California and South as well.

He has his work cut out for him.....I am hopeful he does well.

I just thought he did a good job of firing up the troops. Shephard sounds like a good replacement though. An Indiana guy.

Spent too long at osu. I'm not a fan of hiring from places that have that many advantages.

Also, there is a reason they hire someone to cocoordinate with him

My wife went to HS with Shephard and said "Shep" is a very charismatic guy and should be a great recruiter. She said he is major "high energy". It's funny, she just found him on Facebook a couple nights ago and we were talking about him at WSU and how he used to coach under Brohm.

I think Deruyter (sp) should be looked at now that he isn't the HC at Fresno St. Would probably like the chance to be at a P5 as a DC and a place that allows him some freedom as Brohm is an offensive minded coach. Last year, Deruyter made about $1.4 million so I assume he might bite at a chance at Purdue for around $800k which would put him as one of the highest paid assistants in the B1G along with being in the top 20 in the county I believe.

DeRuyter would be a great choice, he was w/ Air Force as a DC and made them immediately better on D. K C Keeler would be great too. A couple of Nat;l Champ's at Delaware and doing well down at Sam Houston St.

I agree with Deruyter. Any connections to Brohm?

Was it announced exactly what Shepard's title is? Noticed he was 'inside receivers' coach at WSU, and they also had an 'outside receivers' coach.

PU, I don't know if it closes Parker's door or not. He can coach other position players, he can be the lead recruiter, or even move to d backs. I for one hope like hell he stays.

I would be surprised if Parker isn't offered back on staff. Brohm has alot more $$ to pay assistants than before. Many position coaches jump around-I could see Parker as Special Teams?

Most likely Levine as sc coach

Parker has to think about his own career. Those that think he would be a recruiting coordinator or some other support staff role are deluding themselves

Wrote this list in another thread, but these a a couple guys I'd go after:

Vance Bedford, former Texas DC. Hire him as DB coach. Previously coached at Louisville and Michigan so he knows the area and knows the TX recruiting area.

Don Pellum, Oregon LB and recruiting coordinator. Hire him as a LB coach. Has connections to the West Coast, and Oregon always recruited TX well so we can double dip into TX.

Ben Strickland, FAU DB coach, hire him as CB Coach. Former walk-on at Wisconsin. Was a Graduate Assistant and than Secondary coach there before moving on to FAU. He's young and smart, and has ties to the midwest area.
