I understand firing Hazell would be expensive, and I understand that there will be several better programs out shopping for a coach. However, allowing this staff to stay beyond this year sends a clear signal that we are not serious about athletics at Purdue.

Hazell is back next year. Pat Forde reported as much. Not sure why he would waste his time reporting on this program by he did.

Well, that was as of a certain time (and quite frankly, can be a way of putting a vote of confidence out there without addressing it specifically). Things can certainly change.

Good point. Programs have never said a coach is their guy and then fired him at the end of the season.

Hell, Miami gave Al Golden got a vote of confidence and was fired a few days later.

Things are so sad at Purdue though that people were actually satisfied last week after beating a 3 win team. You can blame the President, BOT, Morgan Burke, etc. all you want - but our fans are not exactly demanding much. The fact many thought firing a coordinator after year 3 would be a good step - is just baffling.

We held onto Hope 1 year too long and we better not hang onto another coach for another year too long.

Per the smug Fickle Fan Police he's back and it's a done deal! Don't even consider arguing - you'll be tagged an idiot non-supporter.

Fact: coach Nike Vest goes 2-10 and gets blown out by IU ? He gone

I see a contract extention and bonus coming soon.

I'd argue the opposite. If we had kept Coach Hope another year we would not have had Coach Hazell. Plus Hope probably would have won more than 1 game that year.

Well maybe I'm off base but I absolutely 100% expect Hazell back next year. I don't think they'll cough up the money and we wouldn't be a consideration for any of the good candidates out there right now. The only possibility I see is that there is a miracle and they agree to eat the money and we get Spack.

Coach Hat goes 2-10, gets routed by IU and they bring him back?
There won't be 500 people in the stands next fall.
On the plus side: "Where's Mitch" will be pretty damn easy in the 3rd qtr

No, I'm saying that Hope should have been fired after year 3, not year 4. Decent chance we could have had Sumlin.

"Miracle" and "Brock Spack" should not be used in the same sentence.

2012 was supposed to be the year that Hope said we would win the B1G. Then we got pounded by MI, Wisky, and PSU at home and it was clear that the promises were a sham. We should have moved after the 2011 season. The problem isn't that we made the change, it's that we made a bad hire.

Wish we would have held on to HOPE period right now!!!!!!!!! Would have been bbetter than this dumpster fire of a coaching staff!!!!!!!

You guys can have Kevin Wilson. He will provide an afternoon of pure comedy for your fans! His defense will bumble and stumble around, fall into each other and he'll clap as they come off the field. It will leave fans in stitches!
