Coach on the court

I get that coaches sometimes float outside their coaches box every once in a while. Most of the time the referees will tell them to get back. But I don't get how Clappy the Clown is allowed to come onto the floor and not get T'd up!?!
There were times during the game last night where the ball is in play at his end and he is 5-6 feet on the floor. Thought a couple of times that he was going to run into a player. Not sure how this is allowed to happen.
My rant for the day....

Noticed it also. Can't understand why there are "boxes" if some coaches ignore them completely and come onto the floor whenever they like.

Someone with Photoshop skills needs to drop Crean into a Travolta dance scene from Saturday Night Fever.
As much blame should be placed on the University as on Crean after all there is a lack of sideline room. They should be required to remove the first five rows behind each bench and move the bench back or maybe like Vandy require all teams have their bench under each basket(I bet then they would stay off the floor or risk being run over by a Horse Haas).

Again, if I was an opposing coach...i'd run a player down the sideline, in bounds, to keep him off the floor. If he collides with my player, I would go all out to get him T'd up.

I think you guys misunderstand the purpose of the coach's box in AH. At IU it is a perimeter set up a safe distance from any recruits sitting in the first row. Crean is encouraged to stay outside the box as much as possible. It is a sanction from the "I've been thinking about you a lot" tweets.

What I do not understand is why Painter was not in the refs' face during a timeout demanding that they watch it and call a technical. Crean will try to get away with what he can, the onus is on others to make sure the call is made as the refs are not likely to do it unless confronted. I noticed the extreme wandering as well and was expecting a reaction that never came.

Owl,

You can't take away the "6th" man.

Iu also has those seats right on the floor on the baseline. I noticed a couple of shots by iu last night that led to fans cheering ON THE COURT. It reminded me of that game when an iu fan started guarding Etwaun. Looks like an unsafe situation.

The steel fence that Spike dove into seemed awfully dangerous too. He wasn't very far off the court to hit that thing. Luckily he was fine but it was right behind the first tow, I feel like players go that deep fairly often.

I understand wanting to get fans in but there should be some standard of space.

I know at one point an official literally had to run around Crean while PU was in transition after a rebound..............how that is not a tech is beyond me. He was unable to do his "job" (used loosely of course) because Crean was in his way. I keep waiting for a player to wipe him out LOL.

Think it's a part of the Izzo coaching tree thingy...Izzo was actually out on the floor with his hands up guarding our player at one point this last game up there...

There court is an injury waiting to happen. There isnt room for a fart in between the sideline and the players sitting on the bench. Spike coulda really got hurt last night.

I've always said I've got a hundred in the sock drawer for any player from any team who runs into Crean while on the court and causes the official to have to call a tech. Hell, if it were a PU player I'd up it to $200.
