I'm mostly interested in the defenses played by Dayton and "how" they were played by DaytonCough up ten bucks if you really want to know. I recently let my subscription expire and didn't renew but that was mainly due to subpar football coverage in recent years among other things. The basketball coverage was always very good.
Info is already out there, for free. Plus I suspect details will be limited regardless due to it being "secret"for us troglodytes....be vague if you must...

e first rule about secret scrimmage is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT SECRET SCRIMMAGE. Really, you don't. The NCAA says you can use it to take the place of a traditional exhibition, but no results or statistics can be officially released. We do know that Purdue played Dayton... somewhere in Indianapolis. Since I drove past a few parks today I can say with certainty it was not outdoors.
There has been some information hat was released, however:
Your starters for Purdue were P.J. Thompson, Rapheal Davis, Vince Edwards, Caleb Swanigan, and Isaac Haas.
If you're wondering, no, A.J. Hammons did not play.
Purdue won 84-74 and out-rebounded Dayton by 15. This is significant because Dayton has their own 7-footer in Steve McElvene. Purdue had shown some interest in him before, but he ended up being a partial NCAA qualifier and redshirted last year.
Ryan Cline played, while Basil Smotherman did not. Allegedly Smotherman cannot play even in the exhibitions because he is redshirting after having already played two years. Cline and Grant Weatherford can play in the exhibitions, but one may still redshirt (my money is on Weatherford).
Swanigan had 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Read that last point again. Take deep breaths and calm down.
Edwards had over 20 points.
Kendall Pollard was Dayton's top player, but there are no details.

he is a known commodity and the game didn't count. I'm glad others got the playing time. I understand the game was sloppy, but that is to be expected.....and did so without the services of AJ? That is significant. Wonder why no AJ for this exhibition?
Found on Reddit that Stephens had around 7 pts and split time with Cline and Mathias. Haas also had around 6 pts and played well.
Or maybe Haas did score 6 points and another player scored a different amount. It is a SECRET.A player did have 6 pts, but it was not Haas. Haas scored a different amount of points. This is all I can say

This is just the info I found on Reddit. Take it for what it is worth.

Thanks, but don't get blackballed!Cline had six. Haas had a dozen.
I have no idea "HOW" the scrimmage was conducted, but a lack of shooters and teams play Purdue like they did with Ronnie Johnson and Terone. Purdue has more players that can shoot the ball today than then...others besides Kendall, Dakota and Ryan. However a team has to be a threat to shoot the ball effectively to spread the court. THIS team has the most shooters of ANY Purdue team coached by MattWell no one has said it but with all this emphasis by message board experts that we need shooters to spread the floor, none started the game.

I think it's still telling. By the way, the leading scorer was Vince, but then you know that because you are a premie member. I also think that Painter wanted to see as much of Cline as he could and wanted to see how Ray started off playing the 2. Kendall and Dakota are known commodities so I'm guessing that cut into their minutes.I have no idea "HOW" the scrimmage was conducted, but a lack of shooters and teams play Purdue like they did with Ronnie Johnson and Terone. so are you equating "shooting" with offensive efficiency? I remember Robbie, E'twan, Smith and Bryd out past 15. This team clearly has PJ, Vince, Caleb, Kendall, Dakota, Ryan..and perhaps Davis. Efficiency and ratings per a given year may be misleading to several factors. I'm just talking about stroking it on the perimeterThis team has the most guys capable of making 3s, but it is not the team with the best shooters. Robbie's senior year set some school record I believe and is the best shooting team Painter has ever had. They were ranked #9 in the country in offensive efficiency.
Is a boiler bulldog a Butler fan as well?Reports are he was suspended from the game for a "minor" team infraction and nothing major.
Cut my teeth in early 60's on Hinkle ball. Brother in law one of about 3 pics back then still hanging on west wall. Thinking Plump, Jeff and Haywood. Wish Purdue played ND this year!Yep. Butler MBA.

I know they got the kid this year from North Carolina State,,,that I "think" played with Hammons at Oak Hill????? If Purdue can hit the the perimeter against any team well this year, they will win. If it becomes a FT shooting game, Purdue can always be at risk. Every game this year, Purdue would prefer a more physical game on the perimeter and a less physical game inside...AND hitting the jumpers behind the lineButler will have a solid team this year. Should be a great game.

Do you think Wideman is a starter for them? Should be fun to watch him and Biggie go at it.Correct. They have a solid starting five but nowhere close to the depth that Purdue has. Lewis, Dunham, Jones, Wideman, and Chrabasz.

I wonder if Butler will give up a lot defensively with Lewis replacing Barlow.
I'm a fan of Jones. He's quite the competitor and it should be interesting to see how Purdue matches up with him and Dunham.
Purdue owes Butler and I think wins handily this year. I do not see how Butler can guard Purdue inside outside of a zone or a lot of sagging by the guards. I do think Purdue can guard Butler inside. Davis will have Dunham and Dunham has never seen the D from Purdue he will this time. I'm not sure last year for Dunahm was his best year although he learned to put the ball on the court. I'm trying to remember Lewis and seem to recall him the passer, ball handler with some flair that takes it to the basket, but cannot remember his stroke. Purdue has enough bigs that I can see the little scoop from down low by Jones getting blocked a lot. No doubt Butler will want their bigs to face up and drive as I expect most teams will do against Purdue. If Purdue strokes it outside there is enough inside play somewhere between, Hammons, Haas, Swanigan and Vince to keep Purdue solid inside. If driving the big guys on Purdue is a problem..I think Jacquil can fill that role and Purdue still have enough firepower. We know Butler will play smart and make Purdue beat them. I just wish I could pull for Butler and Purdue...
I want Purdue to win, but beating Butler is not like beating other teams. I have too much respect for The Butler Way and the Dawgs being a fan since the early 60's when I would sit almost on the court. As a little boy I loved hearing the sneakers squeak, hearing the grunts and the physical play inside and fans concerned that Tony would slow the game down in the winding moments as the lead dwindled, but playing the clock. I was there when Archie missed his 90th in a row FT and was there when the 62 team was honored not realizing I had ties into two other players beside my brother-in-law. FWIW, the Butler people see all the pub going to IU regardless of whether Butler beats IU or not...This seems pretty spot on to me. I expect Purdue to win a close hard fought game. It will be solid March resume builder for whatever team wins.
I'm sure Ryan Kerrigan appreciates this since his Mom and DAd still live here.A Muncie Madam is a trashy older lady from the Midwest. Usually having origins in or near "the armpit of America" or as it's more well known...Muncie Indiana. She usually has a name that can be considered male or female, such as Toni, Pat, or Chris. She is usually reserved a seat at the pic nic table near the dominant Alpha male. The Alpha male will usually offer her his Potato Salad or Coleslaw as a sign that he is ready to mate.
Examples:
Boy that lady over there sure is one hell of a Muncie Madam. You see the way Eugene just offered up the last of his "Slaw" to her?
I met this lady named Chris at the bar last night. She was a real Muncie Madam.
