Based on our history of shooters - guys like Waddell, Ryne Smith, even to a lesser extent Jaraan Cornell - I expect Cline to come in and struggle next year relative to his HS shooting proficiency. We don't really recruit the guy that comes in and shoots 40% right off the bat for various reasons.
Mathias has had so many shots just rim out this year. I hope that with improved conditioning and strength, his shot will be more consistent next year, and following.
Stephens, again I hope, becomes more consistent if he can be healthy.
Cline comes in and provides some minutes, but probably shoots 30%.
You hope that these guys can all progress year to year and Purdue gets to the point where it's got two viable deep threats (40%+) playing significant minutes every year. If you add in Vince Edwards as that Swiss Army knife guy who can shoot but whose game isn't predicated on it, and you've got a lot of options offensively.
I struggle to understand how Purdue got to the point where it had literally no one that could shoot a lick such that we're relying on freshmen and sophomores to come in and light the world on fire... that whole recruiting thing...
