i know there is a limitation on class size. Our current class stands at 25! I thought the limit per class was around 28. Regardless of attrition, It appears Purdue is not going to have any room to add anybody late or juco a or transfers to this class!

Can somebody verify what the maximum size for a recruiting class is?

Again, I’d wait to make speculation until after the bowl game and the spring spring semester starts. I’m guessing more than a few are going to be leaving due to academics or to find more playing time some where. My guess would be 3-4 prior to spring practice.

The issue is not the class size this year, it's the 85 scholarship limit. I believe 28 is the max for a class as that allows for the three oversigns. A team may sign more than 28, if they had available room in the previous class. The exception to that is they must enroll mid year to be eligible to count toward the previous class.

Ok my understanding is there is an overall limit of 85, but there is also a limitation for each year! Adding three mid year may count towards last year, but last year's class was also huge!

Last years class was 24, with four coming mid year so they are back dated.

So looks like we can have up to 5 backdated (we have 3 already) and 3 oversigns? That means we could have as many as 8 more (2 more backdated, 3 more regular, 3 oversigns). Does that sound right?

I am not as worried about the 85. Those types of things have a way of working themselves out. Although our senior class is pretty lean, maybe a lot of changes for sophomore and juniors.

Can the equation change if a couple of players are on academic scholarships vs athletic scholarship?

I would believe so. I remember back in the day, if a player was eligible for financial aid, they'd use that and save the scholarship for somebody else.

This may sound weird, but in track, they have % scholarships, where one scholarship might be split among 4-5 different athletes on the team.

.

I don’t think you can do that (anymore). This would be abused if you could. Even if you give a guy a basketball scholarship and he “walks on” to the footbal team he counts since there is a pecking order and football trumps b-ball. That is why Patrick Base and Charles Davis did not count against the b-ball
Scholarships.

In essence they would just be considered a walk-on, and the player would lose out on housing and food money as well as some of the other perks that come with being on an athletic scholarship...

I'm just looking for clarification. if the class is currently at 25, how many Moore players can brohm actually add?

3

3 mid year guys (Plummer, Anderson, and Marks) as we have four Boiler seniors that graduated yesterday. That means the team will be under the allowed 85 scholarships allowed on campus at one time.

My guess is Moore would be the last one unless a linebacker they like shakes lose

Bade didnt count against BBall because he left the team.

If CJB gets a full 25 to sign that means he will have turned over 58.8% of the roster in two years...

I thought he had 24 last year and I think 5 or 6 were hazells commits? And some of the defects are his as well (WR from ND, one year grad students). But I get your point about half are his.

Not a negative comment, I love his passion and coaching style! Just an observation that he is turning the roster over quickly getting his type players in the program.

of last year's class, only Sipe, Mackey and Allstott were recruited by Hazell. the rest were all recruited and signed by Brohm after Hazell left. and the vast majority of his signees were players he was already recruiting for his system. they just traveled with him from WKU to Purdue. Those were players Brohm wanted to be part of HIS system. if brohm didn't want Sipe or Mackey for HIS system, i'm sure the y could have signed elsewhere. So realistically, you could say that class was almost entirely Brohm's class, and this year is his second class, not his first class.

they still do that with some sports, but with all the shenanigans I doubt if it's allowed by the revenue sports (BB and FB).

Stickford was a Hazel recruit as well. Hamilton committed between head coaches, so really to Parker.

You are right it is his second class. I am pretty sure that OL from carmel committed to Hazell and Tyler Hamilton was the shocker, I think Gerard Parker recruited him, he definitely commited before Brohm showed up. So that is 5 commits who were Hazels. And 4 more were 1 year transfers Brohm brought that wine be here next year. And we will need 9-10 guys to drop off the team to stay below 85. Some may be Brohms guys (academics?). I think we will have close to 40-42 Of Brohms guys on the team next year so about half. But about 75% of the two-deeps will be hazel’s Guys probably and many veteran leaders. We are still at least a year away from having this be substantially Brohm’s recruits. But I don’t think that is an issue, it sounds like everyone here has bought into Brohm. And I don’t think Brohm has “guys”, he got a lot of Hazels players to play lights out this year.
