Is he the best on ball defender we have had since Kramer? He is definitely better at scoring than Krafer was. I love that he picks up full court and harasses them the whole time he is in the game. He is going to be a star. Another Painter recruit that went unnoticed by everyone else.

It’s been said many times before that the key to getting minutes in painter’s system is by playing good defense!

His defense against Perry is what first caught painter’s eye.

I guess of Harris, Colvin, Heide and cox, his must be the best defense

It probably takes substantial energy to pick up the ball full court like he does. Also he's probably at a higher risk of accumulating fouls than most with his on ball pressure. I know he picked up his second foul in the first half against Michigan and probably didn't play the rest of the half.

It’s hard to compare anyone to Kramer since the freedom of movement rule adjustments, but I was blown away by the defense he played against Michigan. He completely took Donaldson out of his game.

He’s been great. Hope he can keep that up plus his scoring outside of Mackey. Would be huge for ROS.

Painter rotated LewJack and Kelsey Barlow about every 4 minutes so they could keep constant pressure on the other team's point guard. They were also fun to watch.

When he started a game, you knew there would be at least 2 guys finishing with single digits.

I think Jones was slightly better (or maybe more consistent is a better way to say it) on both ends but obviously that's comparing a senior to a freshman so from that comparison Cox is having a stellar freshman season.
